About this product

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Digitally remastered edition of the second studio album by Metallica, originally released in 1984. The album was recorded in three weeks with producer Flemming Rasmussen at the Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark. The artwork, based on a concept by the band, depicts an electric chair in the midst of a thunderstorm. The title was taken from a passage in Stephen King's novel The Stand. Although rooted in the thrash metal genre, the album showcased the band's musical maturity and lyrical sophistication. This was partly because bassist Cliff Burton introduced the basics of music theory to the rest of the band and had more input in the songwriting. Instead of relying strictly on fast tempos as on Kill 'Em All, Metallica broadened it's approach by employing acoustic guitars, extended instrumentals, and more complex harmonies. Album Tracks 1. Fight Fire with Fire 2. Ride the Lightning 3. For Whom the Bell Tolls 4. Fade to Black 1. Trapped Under Ice 2. Escape 3. Creeping Death 4. The Call of Ktulu

    Metallica Ride the Lightning vinyl

Replacing my worn-out vinyl collection, this one sounds great ! Took me back to my teenage years when I heard this album for the first time. All original packaging, inner sleeve has song lyrics and band photos.

    Great pressing of a classic

Ride the lightning is a nice reissue, the dead wax has “made on the Metallica press” stamped in it, great SQ. Price was good to.

    There will never be another

The definitive Metallica album, in all of its vinyl glory. Really the only proper way to listen. Glad to have this finally in my collection. Packaged well in cardboard and delivered quickly, I never really considered Best Buy to be a go-to source of my vinyl acquisition. This is my 3rd album purchased here and I'll be back for more. Of course, I always want to give mom and pop shops the first dibs, but for favorites that I've been in the hunt for, BB hasn't let me down.

    Remastered on Vinyl is GREAT

I've always loved this album, and have an original pressing of it. But I always thought it could have sounded better. Then I heard "Ride the Lightning" was being re-released and remasterd from the original analog tapes. I had my doubts, but gave it a shot. I was NOT disappointed! The bass has more punch, and the the highs are so much more crisp. Great stereo separation as well. It's everything that was great about the original album and more. It also came with the MP3 download as well, which was an added bonus. I totally recommend this release, as well as the re-release of "Kill 'em All".
