Metropolitan Opera Orch / Conlon - A Salute to American Music - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Various Artists - A Salute To The Hollywood Musical [COMPACT DISCS] date 03/26/2002

American Salute Spirit of the Nation is a tasteful collection of orchestral pieces devoted to the history and vitality of the United States. Performed by a series of orchestras, highlights include Aaron Copland's sweeping InchHoe Down,Inch InchBattle Hymn of the Republic,Inch and Ferde Grofé's InchGrand Canyon Suite 'Sunrise',Inch during which the anticipation of the sun hitting the lip of the canyon is palpable. The introspective moments of InchVariations on 'America'Inch and Samuel Barber's InchAdagio for StringsInch are also a nice touch, as they offset the collection's more bombastic moments. Basic versions of the InchStar Spangled BannerInch and InchStars and Stripes ForeverInch round out the set.
