Miami Horror, led by Australian-born, LA-based producer Benjamin Plant, returns with a poignant new album after a nine-year hiatus. The upcoming record is a deeply personal exploration of childhood, growing up, and the universe's interconnectedness. Inspired by Plant's lifelong fascination with the cosmos, the album delves into existential themes and the human condition. The album sees Miami Horror collaborating with a myriad of exciting Australian collaborators including Telenova, Tim Ayre, Woodes, Beckah Amani, Ngaiire, and ARIA-nominated producer Styalz Fuego (Troye Sivan, Tate McCrae, The Knocks), amongst other international names like RAC, Robotaki, Ayoni, and more. Miami Horror's latest work marks a return to artistic freedom. Plant, embracing modern sampling techniques, incorporates disco, soul influences, and even movie snippets to create a cohesive narrative experience. A return to form by band leader Colin Huebert (ex-Great Lake Swimmers), his first new work since 2015's Polaris-nominated Nervous, harkening back to the whispered, textural, bedroom indie-folk of Siskiyou's acclaimed 2010 debut. Huebert self-recorded and played almost everything himself, with contributions from guest musicians including cellist and labelmate Rebecca Foon (Saltland, Esmerine) and Destroyer regulars Joseph Shabason and JP Carter on horns and woodwinds. Opening track InchStop TryingInch was commissioned by NYC-based artist/designer Stefan Sagmeister (of Sagmeister & Walsh) as the theme song for the film and installation project InchThe Happy ShowInch and InchThe Happy FilmInch.
