Around the same time that Michael Korstick caused a sensation with the first and, to date, only recording of all Beethoven piano concertos (555 447-2), these recordings were also made. They shed light on the life of the InchTitanInch from the opposing perspectives of fashionable accessories and clever miniatures. These two aspects interweave in reverse chronological order the Variations in C Minor from 1806 serve as the prelude, while the 24 variations on Righini's Venni Amore from 1791 conclude the portrait. In between, musical snapshots of the Bagatelles Op. 33 (1802) and Op. 119 (1822) frame the variations on an original theme, Op. 76 (1809), which would later become the Turkish March. In every piece, from the smallest vignette to the most intricate keyboard trick, the boundless imagination of one who set out to instill fear is at work.

Bach's idea to set a monument to the well-tempered system by writing two cycles of twenty-four preludes and fugues in all the major and minor keys has continued to fascinate composers of all succeeding generations, and Kabalevsky was no exception. His multifaceted preludes not only are obliged to Scriabin but also already reveal his own personal style and show him striving to develop new harmonic solutions. For her debut album, Swiss soprano Stephanie Bühlmann went in search of clues based on personal encounters with works by her compatriots, she discovered musical treasures off the beaten track of the standard vocal repertoire. This is how the idea of an album of unknown songs by Swiss composers was born, most of which were recorded for the first time for the album InchZauberluftInch. Magic, air, love, nature, soul, peace and home are the themes of the songs, set to music in enchanting, airy, touching, stirring and comforting melodies in the late romantic tradition. The life dates of the five composers Richard Flury, Urs Joseph Flury, Paul Miche, Peter Mieg and Daniel Behle, who set texts in German and French, go from 1896 to the present day. Stephanie Bühlmann studied at the conservatories of Zurich and Lucerne. She deepened her studies in InchLied singingInch in the Liedduo class with Hartmut Höll and in collaboration with Daniel Behle. As a sought-after soloist, she can be heard regularly in opera and concert. Together with her lied partner Benjamin Engeli she presents with InchZauberluftInch a series of fascinating first recordings.
