OEM pen with Go2 for OneNote and doodling...
Used with a Surface Go 2 >> The Surface Pen is not a necessity, like the keyboard, but is definitely nice to have for taking notes and doodling. Since I use OneNote for keeping class notebooks, journals, and planning - a pen is essential to allow full use of the software. The pen sticks very nicely to the side of the Go 2, and I have discovered that the pen tip makes it much easier to touch those small icons on the taskbar. I had an older model 'second generation' pen (has the eraser tip with a 'clip' on the barrel) already in use, and this newer version is pretty much the same except for improved sensitivity to pressure, and the "tilt" function which is VERY nice to have when doodling. Those two improvements would make it worth the cost of buying this newest model pen if you do any drawing or doodling. If you are just taking notes and only interested in handwriting, the older model pen works pretty much the same for writing and recognition. The AAAA battery comes with it, and from what I have read does not need replacing very often. Pen automatically turns off when not in use, so no "button clicking" needed for it to be instantly ready to use when needed. Also picked up the 3-pack of assorted size tips to try out but haven't tried the different sizes yet to see if there is much difference. There are other pens out there, but check to see if they have Bluetooth (most do not) and check for 'eraser on top' function (most have button-push erasing). If you need the Bluetooth and like the 'eraser on top' method, then this pen is going to be the best solution. An OEM pen is usually the best device to use, unless you have a very good reason to try something else. Stay Safe!

Good pen, tip needs improvement.
The pen works great overall. Sometimes when you first use it after a while for some reason it changes the screen brightness and color, but maybe that’s related to my power settings, I’m not sure. The only downside and what I’m disappointed about is the very top of the pen. It’s a little piece of rubber supported by plastic which broke while I was writing notes. The pen still functions, but there is significantly more rubber exposed from the tip which is not starting to bend to one direction from use. I can’t find the warranty information anywhere on here, so I’m not even hopeful for an exchange. Overall it’s a good product, feels nice and has a good weight. It’s magnetic and attaches on the left side of the tablet. I’m left handed, so this is perfect for me, but I could see that being somewhat annoying if I were right handed, but certainly not a deal breaker by any means...it has to go somewhere.

Great Product!
I probably don't love this pen as much. As funny as it seems I lost my pen in between the couch. I had no idea it was even there. I went crazy looking for it then gave up. So I had to purchase another one. luckily It was at a discounted price online during offer. The pen that was lost eventually was found. Now I have two pens and there some members of my household were being accused of taking my first pen. Oops. The Surface pen works great! I have some issues with my Surface Pro 7 reading my surface pen but, overall great. The battery life is good. I prefer using batteries than using the slim pen and using a charger adapter.

Perfect device for writing, drawing, doodling
If you hate typing and love writing /drawing/doodling, the Surface pen is a great implement to have in your hand. It works with many apps ( adobe photoshop, one note, Microsoft to do, sketch, snippet, word etc.) hence getting familiarity with the device is essential.

Digital pen
The Surface platinum color pen comes with extra nibs in the box. The unique feature of this digital pen is that the pen top serves as an eraser. You can erase in whole or piecemeal strokes. It has a light weight feel as well. The only drawback is cost.
