I originally purchased a standard keyboard for the Surface Pro. I saw reviews for the Alcantara keyboard and decided to purchase it. The keyboard is identical in form and function to the standard keyboard. The keys do not have better responsivity nor is there any added functionality this keyboard brings to merit the added cost. It doesn't look or feel "richer" or more expensive/lux. Save your money and purchase tips for your Surface pen instead. You will find that a far better use for your money.

The Alcantara material is more like a fabric, and is very prone to getting discolored. My hands were never dirty when I'd use it, and it still ended up getting to be a light brownish tint near the edges where my hands would rest while I was typing after a few months of frequent use.

It was advertised by the BestBuy for this product that the weight would be 0.63 oz (under Specification). But it is more than 0.6 lb. Adding this type cover to the Surface Pro 4, it adds weight. I bought this because of the advertised lighter weight even it is much more expensive than other models. But it is not the true.

Alcantara signature type cover has a very comfortable touch feeling and response pretty fast. It is very light and fancy, which match the color of my surface pro. It might be a little pricey, but I like it.

If you're familiar with the previous Surface Pro 4 Type Covers, this is essentially the same thing. What you're paying for is the premium material used to develop this product. The outside (back cover) of this product looks great and is very soft. The slight metallic look of the Microsoft logo adds a little touch of elegance. The inside (keyboard side) of the cover feels like a matted surface of some sort; which is different from the other Surface Pro 4 Type Covers. The typing and trackpad experience is the same as the other SP4 covers - which is pretty comfortable. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase because of the look of this product. I highly recommend if you don't mind paying the premium. :)

This keyboard is fantastic! I love the neutral color and the way it feels. Several of my friends have the standard colored keyboard and they're all jealous. I've also dropped this several times and it hasn't broken yet!

Keyboard is lightweight, compact, protects Surface. Easy on & off.

Photos may make it look like a plain gray keyboard, but in reality there is a subtle speckle pattern that should hide dirt and that looks really cool. It's a Microsoft keyboard, specifically designed for Surface tablets, so you get the wuality of an OEM product. This keyboard does offer backlit keys for working in low light areas.

I was a little skeptical at first but I was using rewards for part of the payment so I went with the Alcantara type cover...very nice! It looks classy and feels good in your hand when carrying the Surface with the cover closed. Easy to type with on my lap. Backlit keys are nice. Glad I spent the extra money.

I purchased this keyboard to go with Surface Pro 4 and absolutely love it! It feels like a full-sized keyboard but requires a much lighter touch. I can type oh so very fast and my creativity just seems to flow better. The unique color pattern is awesome too. I would highly recommend this keyboard!

I was honestly a little disappointed when I started reading the reviews of this "signature" type cover. For $30 more you are basically getting a "melange" cover, that's identical to the other cheaper ones but it has alcantara. Most of the reviews I read stated how "premium" this cover felt over the normal ones... however it feels identical to my old and cheaper blue one. The back of the cover is a little softer, but the keyboard side feels like cardboard just like the old ones. The trackpad on mine is also bent or sitting too deep on one side, ill swap it out as its most likely a defect. Overall if this item was the same price as the normal type covers it'd be fantastic however for $30 more i'd expect it to look and feel more premium.

A nicer, fancier, and workable choice for keyboard and cover!

I was a little hesitant to purchase a keyboard that was this expensive, but after the purchase and a few weeks of use, all of those doubts have gone away. The keyboard works great, and the look is even better.

Switching from a standard keyboard to this cover has been easy. It is lightweight and clicks to the surface via a magnet. it is a smart accessory. The lighting is adequate.

Smooth keyboard, keys are spaced far enough apart to make it comfortable. Love the gray color with my gray surface, very sleek. Use for business purposes-does not fail me!

With the purchase of any Microsoft Surface, you MUST get a keyboard. Not sure why they didn't include one but you can't live without one! Bit pricey for a keyboard though.

This keyboard is worth the extra money. First, it does not have the same flex as the other TypeCover keyboards. It is fluid and types wonderfully. Secondly, it does not stain like the other colors. The Alcantara covering is not as much about fashion as it is about durability and being stain resistant. Alcantara is composed of about 68% polyester and 32% polyurethane, giving increased durability and stain resistance. The appearance and tactile feel of the material is similar to that of suede. What does this mean? You are getting one of the best keyboards and it looks great.

The Alcantara type cover is the best Surface keyboard I have used. The material feels great, it types perfectly and does what it says it will.
