About This Item

To say that music has been a constant passion for Brendan Mills, vocation and heartfelt dream since his earliest years would be a cliché, but it would be no exaggeration. Years of training, of experience, of self-discipline and determination have taken him to a point whereby his music is both an intelligent and intuitive interpretation, not merely the marks on a stave. He began to learn the piano and recorder at the age of 5 and by the time he was 7 he had started to learn to play the saxophone. He was also an active member of various vocal groups, working with the likes of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, in such prestigious venues as the Abbey Road studios. It was as a member of these groups that he had the opportunity to partake in events such as 'Children In Need', live on the BBC, the launch of 'Whistle Down the Wind' and Sir John Mills' 90th birthday party. He achieved grade 8 Associated Board of the Royal School of music with distinction on the Saxophone at the age of only 15!. A year later he was awarded a Guildhall School of Music and Drama Performance Diploma with honours. At the same time he was the Principal Saxophone player with the Greenwich Youth band, with whom he stayed for five years, undertaking tours in Spain, Italy and Austria. Prior to commencing his University study in Leeds, he was also a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. He has played in many top venues over the past few years. Some of these include the Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican and Westminster Abbey. In 2003 he played with the Royal Artillery 16th Regiment at Westminster Abbey before the Queen and other Royal family members. At Leeds College Of Music, he has teamed up with three other very talented young musicians; Ross Wall on piano, Cathryn Daniels on bass and John Arnesan on drums to produce this album InchSax After MidnightInch, featuring 12 sax led interpretations of some of to
