Minnie Riperton - Come To My Garden - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2018 . Despite it's upbeat rhythm and onomatopoeic refrain, 'Sound Of A War' is a wake-up call for all to realize that we are actually living in a global war, where everyone's involved. Distracted by gossip and vanity, we don't often understand that we are being talked by the high society into entering an all-out war'. Large is a bridge between Mellow Mood's current sound and their earliest songwriting, thanks to it's melancholic tones and melodies. While the worldwide pop music scene is now promoting economic gain and consumerism as the only means to achieve personal satisfaction, 'Large' stands out from the crowd and rather calls for a more conscious way of life, more sober, non-subjugated by market rules, freer. In the end, that's indeed the true spirit of reggae music.

An amazing vocalist with an impressive five octave range, Minnie Riperton will go down in the annals of Soul music history as one of the greatest singers of the 20th Century, even though her career was cut short by cancer - she was only 31 years old when she died. Produced, arranged, and orchestrated by Charles Stepney in 1970, Riperton's first solo album, Come to My Garden, largely went unnoticed upon it's initial in 1970, but has since become recognized as a masterpiece by fans and critics alike. All selections have been newly remastered.

2010 album from the British Alt-Rock band. Gorgeously loose and supple, the album reveals a newly colorful, textured, dynamic and, at times, even exuberant musical personality for the band that broadens the album's diversity. Of course, the album remains tinged by the band's unique brand of 'Northern Soul' and 'bubbling cauldron' approach to Sonics anchored by leader Stuart Staples' inimitably intimate, deadpan voice that marked some of their most compelling earlier work. The overall result is a magnificent updating of the Tindersticks canon.
