Modern Studies - We Are There - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

New album from kosmiche folk-rock quartet Modern Studies. A glorious compendium of haunted disco hallelujahs, mercurial krautrock chorales, cosmic pop adagios and euphoric, resilient, anthems. 'The Weight of the Sun' sees principal songwriters Emily Scott and Rob St John further their warm, esoteric field studies with Pete Harvey and Joe Smillie, as previously reconnoitred on 'Swell To Great' (2016) and 'Welcome Strangers' (2018).InchThe exact point where Fairport Convention meet Jim O'Rourke at a remote Scottish railway station.Inch Tim BurgessInchMelancholic magic... recalls Johnny Marr's hazier reveries and the febrile, electrified folk of Polly Harvey's Let England Shake.Inch UNCUTNew album from InchSetting the standards for intelligent popInch Record CollectorThere is a strange familiarity, and a welcome strangeness, in the quiet alchemy of Modern Studies.Side A1. Or, put simply, glorious pop music.1 Get Back Down 2 Disco 3 Mud and Flame 4 Let Idle Hands 5 It's Winter 6 Young Sun 7 Horns and Trumpets 8 Fast As Flows 9 The House Album Tracks 1. Get Back Down 2. ACADEMY IS / ALMOST THERE It's hard to believe twenty years have passed since The Academy Is... released their breakthrough debut Almost Here, a record that quietly shaped an underground era. In the years since, the band grew up, lived full lives, and ultimately found their way back. Almost There serves as a conceptual companion to their debut, reexamining the past from the present with clarity, reflection, and experience.
