I've been looking at addition monitors to plug in since 2020, as I now work remotely from home. Pricing and reviews for the single monitors were all over the place, and I just didn't like the Idea and having a small 2nd monitor that I would only use when I have to expense reports and need to see 2 screens at the same time. When I saw this dual monitor setup, I went from "additional work specific monitor" to "I can have 3 monitors ALL THE TIME??" My current setup is left monitor Outlook, center (laptop touchscreen) is discord/Firefox/working items, and right is MS Teams and my patio camera to watch my visiting squirrels. The best case scenario is if you have a laptop with 2 USB-C ports. Having to use the HDMI and an additional USB for power is a pain, I had to do that for my Asus gaming laptop, but not for my Surface Laptop Studio, which I use it on now all the time. The biggest problem though, the SLS only has 2 USB-C ports, so I am unable to connect my external backup drive while using the monitor. I usually remove the monitors at the end of the work day, so I can back up after, but I would've preferred to have it connected all the time. I cannot express just how much this additional dual monitors really make a huge difference - it additionally forces me to keep my coffee table space free (where I am normally working from), but the additional space makes everything much easier. Now the TV/AppleTV remotes live in front of the right screen and my glasses/drink live on the left with a lot of space that includes my iPad. There is an additional use case for this! I can technically plug in my PS5 into either of these monitors, which also means if you have another device, like a Nintendo Switch/DVD player, you can assign one of the screens to that device without having it affect performance on your laptop. Example, you can Remote Play PS5 games on your laptop, but you're going to do it through Wi-Fi/internal network and are using your computer's resources. However, if you plug the PS5 directly into one of the monitors, your laptop is working on 2 screens but not any additional program/resources are needed while you play/watch a movie on the 3rd screen. I have been using the additional screens for a couple of weeks now. One of my minor issues is they are not touch screens (my laptop is) - I do realize if they were, the price would most likely be double, so it's just a minor inconvenience to not to be able to tap anything quickly while working with them. The other seemingly minor issue is the right monitor's lower right hand corner has been flashing something that I’m not fully seeing as it's on the corner of my eye. It started happening 5 days in, but only lasted 3 days. I have not seen it since, I'm not sure what caused it, and hopefully it isn't indicative of an upcoming problem, but I'm writing this now because I'll forgot about this in a month. Pros: relatively light weight Folds in and out nicely/easily, if you remember which side to put in! Hinges are strong and can hold the monitors at the angle I need Plug in Play with just 2 cables (if your laptop supports it at least!) Monitors do not necessarily need to be plugged into same source Each side has either USB-C or HDMI for use Cons: Hard to tell which side to fold in first when putting it away, I'll eventually figure it out and remember! For laptops without 2 USB-C, it gets annoying to use extra cables - this isn't THEIR fault, this is your laptop's manufacturer’s fault Takes 2 USB-C ports, which depending on your laptop, you may not be able to plug anything else in - like Surface Laptop Studios Little worried about right monitor's glitching that occurred for 3 days, but hasn't since. Unknown how much this will wear down my laptop, powering 2 additional monitors and basically requiring me to keep the laptop charger plugged in all the time, which I don't like doing normally. In closing, if you work from home this dual monitor setup is much needed to give you a lot more desktop space/windows to work from. If you're in a college dorm room without a TV, either of these can act as your TV!
