About this product
For two decades, Mono have defined and refined a kind of orchestral rock that is as emotional as it is experimental. Their 10 studio albums over those 20 years have established Mono as what Pitchfork described as Inchone of the most distinctive bands of the 21st Century.Inch Meanwhile, their live concerts are typically more subdued in instrumentation - and more supercharged in volume and voltage. Rarely is there the opportunity to combine those two experiences. In their 20-year history as a band, Mono have presented no more than a half-dozen live concerts featuring the support of an orchestra. Such events are not only unusual - they are also unforgettable.Beyond the Past - Live in London with the Platinum Anniversary Orchestra documents Mono's extraordinary performance from the Beyond the Past event that celebrated the band's 20th anniversary, which took place at the historic Barbican Centre in London, England on December 14, 2019. For that once-in-a-lifetime event, Mono selected a memorable lineup of old and new friends, including fellow Japanese underground icons, Boris and Envy, as well as French post-metal legends, Alcest, and UK collaborators A.A. Williams and Jo Quail. The event culminated with Mono performing with a full orchestra to a rapt, sold-out audience of 2, 000.Playing through a two-hour set that touches on the band's entire history, the sheer euphoria and dynamic resonance that engulfed the massive crowd was captured in brilliant detail by Mono's live sound engineer, Matt Cook. Meticulously mastered by Bob Weston and presented here in it's entire two-hour glory, Beyond the Past is one of the most essential Mono recordings. Packaged in a triple gatefold with accompanying 40-page photo book, this is the rare document of an event that is an event in and of itself. Album Tracks 1. God Bless (Live with the Platinum Anniversary Orchestra) 2. After Yo

In The Red Records is proud to announce a previously unreleased new album by Brooklyn-born master of minimalism Alan Vega, Insurrection. The eleven songs here showcase the unparalleled vision and uncompromising force from one of the most influential artists of all time.Alan Vega was born in Brooklyn in 1938. He co-founded the legendary New York City punk band Suicide with Martin Rev in 1970. Suicide's groundbreaking 1977 debut is considered one of the most influential albums of all time. Vega considered his solo records the audio counterpoint to his visual art that reflected the world around him while simultaneously exploring universal themes. It makes his work as relevant today as it was when he created them. It was during his highly experimental period beginning in the late '80s that he began working with Liz Lamere, who became the most crucial collaborator of his solo career until his death in 2016. Lamere, along with Jared Artaud, resurrected these newly unearthed collection of lost recordings, which they co-produced and mixed. Lamere and Artaud spearhead the Vega Vault project, which aims to bring rare, unreleased and back catalog work spanning Alan Vega and Suicide's career to the public for the first time.On Insurrection, Lamere says InchInsurrection was created in the time period around 1997/98, after Mutator and prior to Vega's 1999 of 2007 and captures the intense energy of NYC in the '90s rife with crime, killing, hate, fascism, racism, and moral bankruptcy. You can hear the tortured souls floating through this album. Post-Gulf War angst still enveloped Alan. He was having premonitions about a major terror attack in the US, well before 9/11. The upcoming birth of his son raised further awareness of the state of our world. All these emotions are mirrored in the sounds he magnetized. And true to Vega form, there remains hope and empowerment coursing throug

Da capo! This is what Emperor Leopold II shouted in the Vienna court theater in 1792 - and all the musicians once again began the musical fun from the beginning. Il matrimonio segreto is the only opera that has ever had the honor of being repeated in full at it's premiere, so very much did the comical musical goings-on please it's distinguished audience. On the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the Innsbruck Early Music Festival Weeks, the conductor Alessandro de Marchi again at long last led a performance of Cimarosa's most popular opera in historical performance practice and in original sound. The music forms a direct transition from the Baroque opera to the Bel Canto era of Rossini and in every way merits a production in which the musical and vocal practice of Cimarosa and Mozart's times is brought back to life. Nowadays Cimarosa's opera is always heard in greatly abbreviated versions; repetitions and parts of arias often end up being eliminated. Alessandro de Marchi InchThough precisely these repetitions are interesting because in them the female and male singers, just as then was still the practice, are able to vary and improvise.Inch The orchestral sound is also more colorfully and sharply contoured when original instruments are used. For the anniversary occasion everybody was supposed to have good reason to laugh, and this opera is optimally suited toward this end. The tradition of the opera buffa, with it's origins going back to the commedia dell'arte, in this work experiences a Inchhigh point full of irresistible moments of fun, on the stage and in the musicInch as de Marchi puts it. Album Tracks 1. Sinfonia 2. Atto Primo 3. Atto Secondo
