As teenagers, the indie-pop Moonrise Nation played local bars, put their music on SoundCloud, and recorded a folky, self-titled EP, produced by David Z (Prince, Etta James). It was released in 2014 by his brother, Bobby Z (a member of the Revolution, Prince's band), who continues to serve as an artistic sounding board for the trio.
