Moses Sumney - Mid-City Island - VINYL LP

Recorded in 2014, Mid-City Island is the first everproject to be released from Moses Sumney. Mosesrecorded the entire EP from his apartment inMid-City, Los Angeles straight to cassette on afour-track recorder that TV on the Radio's Dave Siteklent him.To mark the 10 year anniversary of Mid-City Island,Moses kept good on a promise he made to himself allthose years ago, broke and starting out - that hewould press it to vinyl in a decade.Reflecting back on that period, Moses saysInchMid-City, Los Angeles was more of a concept than aplace. Seemingly nobody had ever heard of it, andyet it was the geographic center of the city. Livingthere felt analogous to my disposition as a InchrisingInchAngeleno - highly visible and invisible at the sametime. I sat on my bedroom floor and wrote InchPlastic.InchThroughout his 10-year career, Moses Sumney hasconsistently evaded definition as an act of duty technicolor self-directed videos and monochromeclothes; Art Rock and Black Classical; blowing intoFashion Weeks from a small town in North Carolina;seemingly infinite collaborators, but one staggeringvoice. Consistent across the worlds of music, fashion, and film is his assertion that the undefinablestill exists and dwelling in it is an act of resistance.
