Movses Pogossian - Pity Paid - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2009 sophomore solo album from the Canadian singer/songwriter and front woman for indie rockers Stars. Masters of the Burial is a wistful yet warm collection of songs and the follow up to her 2006 solo debut, Honey from the Tombs. The album includes interpretations of Death Cab for Cutie's 'I Will Follow You Into the Dark' and 'Old Perfume' by Sarah Harmer. Recorded at the Well and produced by Martin Davis Kinack (Broken Social Scene), the album features guest performances from Evan Cranley (Stars), Dan and Jenny Whiteley, Feist, Liam O'Neil (The Stills), and many others. EMI.

The centerpiece of violinist Movses Pogossian's InchHommage à KurtágInch is his recording of Kurtág's InchSigns, Games, and MessagesInch for violin (there are others in the series for different instruments). Pogossian has developed a close working relationship with Kurtág, and his interpretations reflect his reverent stance towards the eminent composer as well as the input received from him. Echoing the importance of the concept of homage within InchSigns, Games, and MessagesInch, Pogossian commissioned several composers to write works in honor of Kurtág - Aida Shirazi, Gabriela Lena Frank, Kay Rhie, and Jungyoon Wie contribute new works to the project, alongside InchMelodiaInch from Bartók's Sonata for Solo Violin, providing repertoire context.
