Ive been researching and price checking laptops extensively and finally settled on this MSI Vector 16. I've been running two high end ASUS laptops for the past 10 years, but this MSI has impressed me greatly. This system is by far the best price to performance ratio of the 50XX series laptops, no question. Easily handles whatever games I throw at it on ultra settings without much effort. If you're considering a RTX 5090 instead, you'll be paying around 1000 bucks more for a tiny unnoticeable performance boost. The laptop is thick and heavy, which certainly has its drawbacks, but I like a nice sturdy machine with a robust cooling system. My 2023 Strix is bigger (18") yet lighter and feels flimsy by comparison. Screen is vibrant and gets nice and bright. I use it in my car often, the 500 nits brightness really helps outdoors in the daytime. Speakers sound good and are loud enough. Included sound control software works pretty well Fans can get quite loud, certainly the biggest con of this device and possibly a deal breaker for some. They spin up even at idle occasionally, which seems odd. Thankfully MSI software has power controls ranging from extreme to eco-silent. I have successfully run various games on eco mode with hardly any fan noise, which I love. Power efficiency is related here, less power means less heat and fan noise. Basic tasks like web surfing it uses about 50 watts. Relatively less demanding games on max graphics like Snowrunner and Earth Defense Force 5 can run as low as 90-100 watts when capped at 60 fps, which strikes me as very power efficient. Balanced power mode is good for more demanding applications. It provides the system way more power while keeping the fan noise tolerable. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with the Vector and highly recommend it.
