Murray,David / Bass,Fontella - Speaking With Tongues (Remastered) - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Old-time music at it's purest, from a direct source! This first full-length solo album by J.D. Wilkes (Legendary Shack Shakers, J.D. Wilkes & the Dirt Daubers) has true crossover appeal, catering to both traditional folk lovers and fans of J.D.'s hard-driving rock 'n' roll projects. The album also features Charlie Stamper, a fiddle player who comes from an Appalachian lineage of mountain players his daddy was field-recorded, and his brother played with Bill Monroe. He is a true, previously unknown source of the pre-war style that provided the root to all forms of modern bluegrass, blues, and country music.

The Siegel-Schwall Band was an American electric blues band from Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1964 by Corky Siegel (harmonica & piano) and Jim Schwall (guitar). Corky & Jim met each other when both were music students at Roosevelt University. Corky was originally a saxophonist interested in blues and Jim's background was mostly in country music. They combined these two genres producing a lighter sounding blues. The Siegel-Schwall Band's first four albums were on the Vanguard tag. Shake was their third album, originally issued in 1968.
