Musica De Selvagem - Volume Unico - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This is an ethereal record. The continual return of the haunting central theme creates a hypnotic dreamlike atmosphere giving the whole work a symphonic tone-poem quality. This is not traditional Brazilian bossa-nova but a finely woven textural work. Comparisons have been made with Chick Corea's legendary InchReturn to ForeverInch but these pieces are also deeply original - Cristovao Bastos, Quarteto Brasil's leader, arranger and principal composer has been an important figure on the Brazilian music scene for almost forty years.

Reissue - This 1980 recording is a pioneering world music/jazz classic. Guest artists include Dr. L. Subramaniam (violin) from South India and Omaya al'Ghanim (guitar) from Kuwait. Cuban Luis Conte plays percussion throughout.
