My Summer Story - DVD

From the creators of the holiday classic A Christmas Story comes the hilarious, heartwarming sequel that brings the Parker family back for another round of small-town misadventures. In My Summer Story (originally known as It Runs in the Family), Ralphie, now a little older but no less determined, sets out to win the ultimate spinning-top showdown while his dad (Charles Grodin, Beethoven, The Heartbreak Kid, Midnight Run) wages war with the notoriously unneighborly Bumpus clan and his mom (Mary Steenburgen, Back to the Future Part III, Step Brothers, Parenthood) battles her own kitchenware catastrophes. Narrated once again by Jean Shepherd, whose timeless tales inspired both films, this charming slice of 1940s Americana captures the humor, chaos, and heart that make growing up unforgettable. Kieran Culkin (Succession, Igby Goes Down, Home Alone) stars as Ralph and is joined by real life brother Christian Culkin as Randy. Director Bob Clark (Porky's, A Christmas Story, Baby Geniuses) ensures the same nostalgic warmth and gentle comedy. Rounding out the cast are Whit Hertford (Jurassic Park), Roy Brocksmith (Total Recall, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey), Glenn Shadix (Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sleepwalker), and Tedde Moore as Miss Shields. The film also features an appearance by Shepherd himself, continuing the storyteller's connection to his beloved Midwestern tales. Filled with small-town charm, mischievous adventures, and the enduring spirit of family life, My Summer Story is a delightful return to the world of leg lamps, triple-dog dares, and childhood dreams.
