About this product
Ahead of it's time in many ways, the beloved comedy series Mystery Science Theater 3000 used social media before there was social media. Consider A creative team of actors and writers put on a puppet show and shared with US not just cheesy old movies, but how they felt about them. They sent their show into the ether, hoping to find kindred spirits to join in the fun and pain. The comments were delivered verbally in one-liners called riffs, the spiritual father of funny tweets. The initial popularity of the show mushroomed as fans made tapes and traded them - viral videos before they turned digital. Is it any wonder, then, that the first MST fans were drawn to the burgeoning internet, using it to find each other and share the love? All of the above notwithstanding, this new DVD collection is the only way to own these four never-before-released episodes with fun extras. Relationship status? It's not complicated fans forever.

As the excitement justifiably mounts for the sexy new MST3K, let us not forget the classic MST3K that kept us warm and fed for many years. When we first scraped our knees on the sidewalk of cheesy movies, it was there to patch us up with inspired riffing. When we were too scared to face bikers, knockoff spies, process shots and rubber-suited monsters, it was MST3K that took us by the hand and made us feel safe in it's soft blanket of loving mockery. We were raised by ten seasons of cable comedy genius, and there's still plenty more classics to enjoy. Case in point the four never-before-released episodes in this collection, including a triple play from Uncle Roger Corman. Joel, Mike and their robot compadres Crow and Tom serve it up old school in this delirious celebration of cinema's cracks and seams - like-old-times.

For those of you who have one (or possibly 30 now) of the MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 collections, please skip to the third paragraph. Welcome new friends. You've heard about this show, possibly read an article in a magazine or seen it referenced on some other show you watch but what exactly is it? Basically, it's a show about a guy and his two robot friends aboard a space ship who are forced to watch old, cheesy movies by mad scientists. To get through it, they make wisecracks during the movies, a comic call-and-response. It was on TV for ten years. There's a feature film, too. That's the gist of it. You know enough now. Read on. Okay, we're back on for four more of you know what, with you know who getting all kinds of nutty. Enjoy. Titles Include THE BLACK SCORPION, OUTLAW (OF GOR), THE PROJECTED MAN, and IT LIVES BY NIGHT.
