Outwardly, PSUs are fairly straightforward but certain features differentiate suppliers and models. The Seasonic GX-550 has provided an excellent combination of features and price and we see it as an outstanding value: The 80+ Gold effeciency rating minimizes the waste energy the PSU dissipates, which means it generates less thermal load to your cooling system, leading to additional operation savings and, importantly, better overall system reliability. The PSU's fan produces v little noise indeed, which is particularly important to this unit's application in a media post-production suite. The ability to switch this unit to fanless mode when operating at light load is attractive but, frankly, the fan makes little enough noise that I'm not sure if that it's a key feature for most. Still it's something we appreciate when working on noise-sensitive activities like voice overs. Full-modular cabling: Absolutely a must have. If you need to pinch pennies, do it elsewhere. The benefit of full-modular during system build and system expansion is worth every single penny you pay for it and then some. Also, a small point perhaps, but the arrangement of power-output connectors on the PSU's back panel simplify adding powered devices such as HDDs and SSDs without unmounting the PSU in the process. Lastly, the 10-year warranty is a measure of Seasonic's faith in the quality of PSU's design, components, and assembly. With regard to power-delivery capacity, we did careful power budgeting for this build and while reading others quoting builds with 750 W supplies, we couldn't come up with a scenario that called for anything close to that power draw for our expected use cases. Since completing the build, I've kept track of total power draw during our heaviest loads and have not seen anything threaten this unit's nameplate maximum in a system with an AMD Ryzen-9 3900x 12-core CPU and an RX 580 8-GB GPU during rendering processes demanding 100% GPU, 100% CPU, and 80% RAM utilization. Our conclusion has been that, for non-gaming applications, this unit is more than adequate for most users and, for gamers, this unit or one of its higher-capacity siblings would be excellent choices.

You can't go wrong with Seasonic. 10 year warranty! Fully modular! All of the included cables are black. No ketchup and mustard with this unit. Eco mode is a plus resulting in no fan on the PSU under light load. Very happy with my purchase!

Great power supply. I purchased this to replace my oem 300 watt power supply and wanted a reliable, modular unit. Seems to be built very well and plenty of cables. Only negative may be some of the cables were way too long for my case but for high end game computers they would be perfect. Been using it for several weeks now with the fan on hybrid mode and you can't even hear it. Very happy with this PS and will buy again if needed.

This was an easy upgrade from my stock HP power supply that I've abused for too long. Got it on a Cyber Monday sale for half off MSRP. If you don't have a fully modular power supply, you're missing out. Gold standard is just the cherry on top. Highly recommend for those mid-tier builds.

Seasonic makes the best bang for your buck power supply on the market. Nzxt and phanteks both oem seasonic GX units for this exact reason. Fully modular, great fan, extended warranty period. Can't beat it

The 10 year warranty, modular cabling and respected brand make this a integral component for your build. It can be reused with subsequent builds as it will last.

I am a system builder, and I never skimp out on PSU's for my build. Seasonic makes the best power supplies, so I always make sure my systems have them. Great PSU for mid level gaming PCs. The modular designs make for clean builds, especially when you use all M.2 drives and don't need the extra cables sticking out of the PSYU for hard drives.

Unbeknownst to us, when the SSD quit working in our gaming tower, we upgraded to a larger SSD and took the opportunity to do the same to the front-side RAM. The unit worked beautifully for about a week and then it did not. After a few YouTube videos and consulting with our IT friend's, we decided that the power supply was dead. The Seasonic GX-550 unit we chose was 10% above our wattage draw of our upgraded tower and readily available from Best Buy. The unit was expertly packaged and the directions were easy to follow. It has been installed for over 30-days and the gaming tower is running like a dream!

I've owned a few of these Seasonic Focus GX PSUs and they've all be very solid. Don't need to go crazy with the wattage because of how consistent Gold level PSUs are.

I just built my first PC and to be honest this wasn't the PSU I originally wanted, but it's exceeded my expectations and so far runs like a champ.

No more bulky extra wiring in my box. It's quiet and seems to work great. I love that you only plug in the wiring you need.

This is a great power supply, it works great and has a perfect matte black finish. Runs with no issues under a full load and the fully modular compatibility is a real lifesaver. 10/10 will buy seasonic for my next build.

Fantastic power supply. I was having issues with my old power supply, but this one solved everything. Absolutely no issues and it's very power efficient. The electricity savings in the long run are worth it.
