The powerline is fast and slow. The connection fluctuates quite a bit but at-least i can get a signal where i otherwise would not.

My son bought a new gaming desktop but the on-board wi-fi connection was super weak. Rather than investing in a new wi-fi card, we instead opted for this option. We plugged in the 'parent' console and wired it into our main router. Then we plugged in the 'child' console in his room and wired that to his tower. The units use your household wiring as a way to send data. You have to pair the devices to ensure it is an encrypted line. But that is a super simple step. Once we got his system up, he immediately saw a HUGE improvement. He was getting around 15mbps over the wireless (3 feet from my new tri-band router) and now gets around 50mps from his room (he averaged 32mbps on hi old gaming laptop). Needless to say he is very pleased. Me too. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants faster connection speeds without having to run physical ethernet wire all over your house. Note: Be sure to plug directly into the wall (not a power strip) for best performance.

I’m in a smaller, but older building, & the WiFi connection is terrible due to interference. Luckily the electrical outlets are closely together and I was able to find a very strong connection and now have great internet speeds wired to my smart TV! It was also very simple to set up!!

Purchased the Netgear Powerline 1200 for my workshop which is 190 feet from my house. Had a wireless extender unit installed previously which stopped being able to connect with my router. I wanted a relatively less expensive means to get internet in my shop than either installing a long range wifi antenna or running a cat5 cable. The 1200 was easy to install. Just find two electrical plugs adjacent to both the router and the intended computer on the other end. Connect the Ethernet cables on both ends. The press the security button and wait for them to connect. Two drawbacks are immediately apparent. Although you get a plug on the face of both units, the 1200 may cover the other plug on the electrical outlet depending on were you plug it in. The other is that the signal goes through two breaker boxes. There is a lot of noise interference on the path between the router to the intended computer. It runs at the lowest speed. There are three speeds green, amber, and red. Mine runs in the red speed. Having said all of this the 1200 delivers the internet in my shop. I stream videos from YouTube with no trouble. One thing I have noticed is that I have shop lights on four separate switches. While the shop lights are cold (when I first turn them on) and I use more than one set, they cause so much line noise that the Netgear 1200 disconnects. If you do not have any other method of delivering reliable internet remotely from your router, the Netgear Powerline 1200 will do the job.

I have this adapter on 2nd floor and basement. Router is on 1st floor. All on different breaker lines. No crossover issues and speed is like having eithernet lines straight into router. Love this product.

My son got a new PC gaming tower but couldn't get the internal wireless to give him a solid connection to our WiFi. This adapter plugs into the wall near your wifi - ethernet wire connects, then uses the household wiring to provide a data line to the companion jack, plugged into the outlet near the receiving PC - also connected by ethernet wire from the jack to the PC. It works very well. We did notice that plugging anything else into the outlets used for the Jacks will degrade the signal, but it seems to be more of an issue at the receiving end - also do not plug in either jack into a power outlet bar - must be in the wall outlet.

I bought this to replace my older AV 500 unit that's been having some issues and these are directly compatible. All it took to install was getting the security settings from the remaining unit and plugging it in. The unit is a little big and is grounded, so you'll need to take a sec to plan where it goes. Good part is, you won't lose an outlet since it has a pass-through builtin. With this one I saw noticeably faster speed and a nice stable connection. Definitely recommend it where wireless is a little sketchy and you don't want the hassle of dragging a wire.

These devices have made it possible to hard-wire my internet system merely by plugging them in. They're easy to set up and they really work.

The plug does well. I plugged an extra router into it to add coverage to a weak side of the house upstairs. The speed is good but not great. Too many people gaming or streaming will probably clog it up but its been pretty steady so far. I've had this since late June and when everyone is home, supports surfing on laptop, gaming on PS3, and 1 ipad on netflix so far as I can tell. I call that pretty darn good for the money My issues with it are finding a plug and location that works when its far from the source. This can be difficult and tricky as the appearance of a red light (means bad/no signal) doesn't necessarily mean it won't work. I found that no matter where I put the adapter, it would eventually flash red as the signal (I assume) isn't always going to be consistent. The trick is finding the spot where this happens the least. Don't expect perfect signal. Connectivity will bog down or vanish for about 1 min every 4 - 6 hours in my experience but this will differ based on how your house is wired. Mine was done pretty shoddy (in my opinion) so most should work well as the hang ups have been very minor.

I had challenges with wifi in my home due to the location of my router downstairs in the front of the home, the numerous wifi signals in the neighborhood (including 2 from a school behind me), and the multiple items in my house looking for a wifi signal (Xbox, Playstation, pool controller, iPhones, iPads and laptops). I tried using a multi-channel wifi router to no avail. A repeater plugged in upstairs did not help much. So, I tried a set of the Netgear Powerline adapters. My first test was with the pool controller in the yard. I connected one to my Uverse gateway, and the other one to the pool controller. It worked great. No more messages telling me that the controller was offline. I then bought a second set and moved a wifi router upstairs. Much better wifi signal throughout the house and yard. I also connected one to my son's gaming desktop upstairs and it works great. No configuration required with the second set. It immediately recognized the initial set and works great. I have tested the internet speed and I get the same speed vie the Powerline adapters as I do on the computer connected directly to the Uverse gateway. I may just buy another set since they are so simple to add wired connections to the house.

The reason I purchased because my Desktop which I built doesn't have a wireless adapter. The old USB technology I used to connect my desktop to the Internet became obsolete. After speaking with a very well informed Staff member he recommended this device to simply allow me to connect to the internet. Thus far, after plugging in both adapters my desktop connected to the internet without any flaw and I can browser, listen to music and do other task simultaneously without any lag and interruption.

I was going to get the ones without the outlet but decided since it was only $10 more to get these. Glad I did. The devices are kinda big and they do cover up both outlets. If you are going to need the other outlet, I suggest getting this one.

I needed to hook up a VOIP phone in my basement for work, this product made it so easy. Just plugged into the back of my modem, plugged one unit in an outlet, plugged the other in a different outlet, they talked and boom, the lights all lit up. Unplugged the second unit, took to the basement, plugged it in, plugged in the phone and immediately was able to make calls, highly recommended. My only question would be why are these only sold in pairs

It is easy to install and works great. My speeds increased greatly and it was worth the buy.

This device works great and kept me from having to drill holes in the walls or floors, or run an unsightly cord along the floor across my house, and still get a hard-wired network connection to the room I needed it in, I was so relieved when this thing worked as expected, and got way faster speed test results than my Wi-Fi. I am actually using the computer that is plugged in through this device right now, it's been hooked up for over a month now using it 8-10 hours a day with no connectivity issues, it hasn't missed a beat. Only issue is that to connect a 3-prong plug into the outlet above it you will need to use your old scout whittling skills and a pocket knife to shave off most of the rubber plug under the ground prong to get it to fit, but I got the job done as have other reviewers and it's all gravy from there.

I didn’t think this would work because I couldn’t wrap my head around the idea of the whole thing. But to my surprise it worked great! I had decent WiFi speed in my room for streaming video but terrible at times when playing online games. But once I hooked these up, it fixed my problem and I was able to play online just fine. It was also a very easy setup process!

Very easy to use and simple setup design and range work well

No configuration, simple setup, high speed (keeps up with gigabit Ethernet). I first tried using a wifi extender (these include Ethernet drops so can act as a bridge), but it failed in all the above, most notably in setup pain. This particular model costs $10 extra for each of two adapters, because it has a neat a/c grounded pass through, which really simplied my usage. (I needed a wired connection for my zigbee home automation hub). I imagine this would also be useful in the case of a wired drop for say, TiVo box, where wall sockets would be occupied. The initial setup is a bit more than a wifi extender, since two adapters are needed (one connects to ethernet). Additional drops are cheaper, since you just need one adapter per drop. So three total for say two TiVos.

Bought this trying to overcome issues with signal from one room to another. Did not really think it would work but much to our surprise -- It works great! My ISP not so great but this helped over come 90% of the issues so we could stream shows without pixels. Give it a try - I hope you are pleased, too!

Used this (with a small gigabit swiltch) to provide wired connections for all of the devices in my media room. Everything from the Bluray player to the TIVO box now has much faster and more reliable network performance than when running them all on wireless. I was a little worried about it not working as well in my house, as it is an older home with aluminium wiring. The units connected on the first try and I have had no problems with them dropping connection.
