Feeling very good after upgrading to this camera from D3100. D7100 saved me a lot of money since I was thinking about D600 by selling all my DX glasses which includes my favourites Tokina 11-16 f2.8, Nikkor 17-55 f2.8, Nikkor 40mm f2.8 Here are some of the things I like - Auto- focus is so fast and accurate. Very good even in low light. - Very good low light results. Now I can crank my ISO up to 3200 - U1 and U2 are very useful. U1 is my 'A' and U2 is my 'S' with bit more higher ISO for extreme conditions :) - Nice color depth and details in the image. 14-bit is very good for shadow recovery. - Awesome build quality, feel good and strong in hand - Dual SD cards with different options for saving images - Awesome battery life. Yes I am coming from D3100 :) - Getting much sharper macro-shots - Good price Few things could have improved are - Buffer size. If you shoot 14-bit RAW+JPEG Fine, you may need an SD card that writes 95MB/S or atleast 45MB/S - WiFi could have been built it. (It is worth buyng this tiny WiFi thingy if you like to take a picture with you and your family. You don't need to run back to your place in 9 seconds and get an awful face expression in the shot.) ~Rosh

I started out with a Nikon D3100, then upgraded to a D7000 2 years ago. After the release of the D7200, the price of the D7100 dropped. I picked this up after knowing a few people who own one and speak highly of it. I do a lot of night cityscape photography, and dabble in milky way and northern lights photos as well. I also pick up a wedding or senior portrait shoot from time to time too. The D7000 performed well at low ISO, but getting up to 3200+ was pushing its limits for image quality. I've now used the D7100 a few times to shoot the milky way, a concert, and some night amusement park rides. I must say, it has performed very well. There is still noise at higher ISO of 3200+, however the grain if finer and preserves more detail than the D7000. The concert shots were shot around an ISO of 2000 and noise is minimal, and noise reduction in Lightroom helps a lot. Images appear to be sharper without the AA filter that was present in previous models. The image quality is excellent, especially with a pro quality lens like a 70-200 f2.8. The attached image was shot with a 70-200 f2.8 with the camera set to ISO 1000, with minimal noise reduction in post. The autofocus is much better than the D7000 as well. The crop mode is useless for the most part, since you can crop in post anyways. It does help with the small buffer size, for you birders and sports photographers. That being said, there are limitations to a crop sensor, such as noise at high ISO. If that is a deal-breaker, consider the D500, another crop sensor, which is a monster, but about $1300 more. This body is a steal at $800. It has excellent build quality, including weather sealing that Nikon claims is equal to the D800 series. It will also take optional Nikon and off brand battery grips, which are helpful for portrait shoots. It also now shoots 5 bracketed shots vs 3 for the D7000 (for you HDR shooters). The locking mode switch is also a big plus. I can't tell you how many times I've accidentally bumped the dial and changed the mode on my D7000, only to discover it AFTER I've shot several frames. If you're looking for a semi-pro body at a great price, you won't be disappointed with the D7100.

At first I was intimidated by all the features the Nikon D7100 came with, but I did a lot of homework, and practiced getting familiar with the menu. Now, I can get to my most used options without thinking about it. There is so much the D7100 is capable of doing at a portion of the price of a full-body Nikon camera. I mainly use a Nikon prime 35MM lens for street photos, and a Nikon 55-200MM for various subjects. If you are serious about photography, the Nikon D7100 is a great semi-pro DSLR that you can actually make a living with. Images are sharp, options are plentiful, the dual card slot, weather resisted finish, and solid build make this an easy item for my to recommend.

Moving up from a D40 to a D7000 was a good move, but giving my wife the D7000 and getting a D7100 was a GREAT move! Love this camera. Its easy to adjust, and produces sharp details.

Love the picture quality and ease of using the camera. Couldn't wait to shoot mountain scenes in Banff Alberta and sports at local teams.

Takes beautiful photos and has lots of fun bells and whistles to play around with. Very crisp photos. Great for landscape, portrait, nature, birds, children and whatever else your heart desires to photograph. I'm very satisfied with mine.

Its alot different going for film to digital photography. This camera has lots of options making it a little easyer. Still had to do some on line research along with reading book to learn all the bells and whistles.

Computer and presets in this camera are top shelf. If you're a Nikon user you already know how to operate this camera. Basically the same layout but takes photos way better than I expected. I've attached one of the pictures I took in the first hour I owned it. I'm very happy with this camera.

This camera is absolutely spectacular. As a professional photographer that writes and photographs for specialty magazines, I need a camera that can shoot anything from in-door shows to low-light features. This camera gives me a great range of settings for the price to be able to do more with my art form and continue to grow as a photographer in my career! I had a 400 zoom and two other AF lenses I wanted to fit to a good Nikon digital SLR. Lots of research led me to this camera because of the ability to use aperture and auto focus. Also its great processing ability, high megapixels and high ISO and full manual use. Learning the camera in full can be like learning a jet cockpit due to its many functions but the manual is written well and there are good videos online. The auto focus system is complex for me. I will usually use manual but the sophisticated system appears to be worth learning.

Image quality, movie features and ease of use are better than I had hoped. I like the slow motion capability of the 60 frame per second movie feature. It is the best crop censor camera I have ever used. I have owned the NIKON D50, D80, D300 and D7000. I like the features and size and image quality of the D7100 the most.

I been interested in photography for the past 40 years, and over the years have owned over ten cameras. This is the best camera by far that I have owned. Its light, easy to use with lots of features and rewards you with wonderful pictures and really stunning videos.

After over two years, my Nikon D7100 died after taking photo #94,957. But I've used it for three football seasons, two band seasons, three baseball seasons, family vacations and events. I loved my D7100 so much, I'm going to pick up another at Best Buy. Very easy to use, great photographs compared to point and shoot cameras and a wonderful price. Very highly recommend, and at the price of $699.99, it's a real bargain.

The camera ive been dreaming off is nikon d7000 but this camera is way off better than the previous model.. Definitely for keeps...

This is an amazing camera for the price and ease of use. I love the ability for 2 SD cards. This will take 8,000 pictures at full megapixel with two 64mb cards

Excellent camera at a good price. Still trying to learn how to utilize all the new features. The learning curve is a little steep but manageable. Definitely several steps up from my old D80. The price at Best Buy matched Amazon.

I upgraded from the Nikn D90. I have owned the 7100 for a year now and it has not disapointed. I wasnt ready to full frame and this camera has net my needs. Crisp clean photos, great ability in low light. Love the dual memory card slot for shooting RAW and jpeg at the same time. Great choice for the enthusiasm level photography that wants to step up the bar.

I've waited a few years after my DSLRs died for a good HDSLR and whoah nellie is this a great camera with awesome video! What sets it apart from the others I tried is having the controls you need, even as simple as it sounds AF vs MF.. right on a button/knob. With the MB15 grip having both dual batteries and dual memory card slots, PHENOMENAL for what I do. I can walk miles and miles on the nature trails and shoot 1200 + pics without changing batteries or memory cards.

This is my first DSLR camera. I shopped around for a while before deciding on the D7100. I didn't want to buy a less expensive camera just to find out that I have outgrown it in a year. One of the great things about this camera is the ability to make changes to the manual settings without going into menus. The more you use the buttons on this camera the easier it gets. (And there are a lot of buttons!) I am taking lessons from a photographer so I am learning the settings much faster than I would have on my own. I also chose this camera because it is one of the only cameras in this price range that is weather sealed. Not waterproof, weather sealed. When I first bought this camera I thought that I may have bitten off more than I could chew but I am very pleased with my decision. I thought that the weight of it would bother me while hiking around with it, but I am already pretty used to it. It is a lot of camera for a beginner so you will want to be committed to learning how to use it in manual mode if you want to get the most out of this great piece of equipment. Oh, and it also has two memory card slots. Now I just need to pick up that extra battery. If you can't get on board with the size of this one, I would find out which compact DSLR takes the best photos and has great lenses. Just my opinion.
