With their third full-length InchByrjingInch (InchBeginningInch), BYRDI are taking the important step from a highly respected underground act to an established force within the realm of Nordic folk. The Norwegians have recorded this third album with the participation of various other guest musicians including percussionist Kjell Braaten, who has performed live with WARDRUNA among other bands, and Mathias Gyllengahm (UTMARKEN, NORRSINNT) on nyckelharpa (keyed fiddle). InchByrjingInch shows BYRDI in an almost intimate way and while their music may easily be labelled as InchNordic folkInch, the Norwegians foremost sound like themselves. BYRDI were founded in the ancient town of Hov in Eastern Norway by Nash Rothanburg and Jørn Øyhus in the year 2012. Their debut album InchEventyrInch was released in 2014 and has been described as a Inchwild and strange ritualInch. Two years later, the Norwegians had been joined by singer and songwriter Andreas Paulsen and started to work on their sophomore full-length. For the recording of InchAnsur UrkraftInch (2017), the band used various locations in the mountains and woods of Eastern Norway. InchAnsur UrkraftInch created a buzz in the Nordic folk scene and earned the band (among others shows) two invitations to perform at the prestigious Midgardsblot Festival in Borre, Norway among the grave mounds of chieftains from the Viking age and even earlier periods. The fast rise of BYRDI is underlined by more than a million streams of their single InchSolsnuInch, which was aptly first released on the day of winter solstice in 2018. Having been joined by harpist Gulia Wyrd-Svartskog, BYRDI are now ready to spread their music and words to an even greater audience with InchByrjingInch.
![Mareva Galanter - Paris-tahiti - COMPACT DISCS [CD]](https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/BestBuy_US/images/products/0782febc-9dd3-4cfe-a105-c6e87bcc0d2f.jpg;maxHeight=422;maxWidth=264?format=webp)
A dream brought to life through the deep friendship uniting Mareva Galanter and Helena Noguerra, who listened to the former tell her of her IncholdInch life on the out-of-this-world paradise of Tahiti. The result are tailormade songs by Noguerra, offering up enchantingly poetic and softly evocative lyrics like so many fallen stars, upon which instrumentalist and songwriter Philippe Eveno composed the elegant, featherlight melodies. He then produced the album, as a kind of postcard inviting the listener to go on a journey. The project was generated by Marc Collin, in a long line of daring productions wherein cultures clash into - and subvert - each other. With this latest album, Mareva Galanter takes us on a trip through her Tahitian origins, prompting a meeting between the Parisian she has become and the Polynesian she never stopped being, invoking her home region's vibrant sounds percussions (Toe're),intergenerational choirs (Himene), ancestral nose flute (Vivo)... Traditional sounds, so dear to Mareva, that are here highlighted in their most authentic form.Through it's 12 tracks, InchParis - TahitiInch is the artist's most personal full-length outing. A musical odyssey recorded in Paris and Tahiti, the album subtly blends traditional sounds with French pop, the modernity of the production espousing the immortality of tradition. This curiously beguiling album is a fresh new meeting of the cultures the guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals were recorded at Paris' Alphaville Studio by Hugo Bracchi, while the ukuleles, percussion, drums, nose flute and traditional choirs were recorded in Tahiti's AMSP studio by Jean-Luc Casula, using wood and bamboo instruments entirely handmade by the musicians themselves.
