Natasa Antoniazzo - Traume - Dreams - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Lieder by Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, Strauss, Wolf, Barber, Stahuljak, Ruzic, Skender, Durovic, Keprt Longing belongs to the deepest and most moving human emotions. Time and again, we are drawn back to the beautiful sensations we have already experienced-whether it is the love for a cherished person, the bond with our homeland, or memories of our birthplace. At the same time, we yearn for the unknown, for what lies ahead yet already captivates our hearts love, passion, success, fame, or wealth.

This new from Natasa Antoniazzo (mezzo-soprano) and Mia Elezovic (piano) is a showcase of 20th century Croatian Composers, including Ivan Brkanovic, Josip Hatze, Ivo Lhotka Kalinski, Ivana Lang, Dragan Plamenac, and more. Natasa Antoniazzo took her first singing lessons with professor Mladen Häusler, and then studied singing in the class of professor Nada Puttar-Gold and professor Snježana Bujanovic-Stanislav at the Zagreb Music Academy. During her studies she performed in the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. Natasha's Opera repertoire goes from Baroque through modern day works. She regularly appears at the Croatian State Radio Station and is an Assistant Professor in Zagreb.

The songs presented on this album combine the time of their creation- they were composed around 1915- and their common theme- the world of dreams and fantasies- to create a stunning program. The similarities, however, do not end there, although it is a stylistically and formally diverse repertoire. All compositions were created as an expression of prevailing aesthetic tendencies, sometimes representing their more significant trends, sometimes remaining somewhat off the beaten path. They are a testimony to the unusual turmoil present in Europe at the beginning of the First World War and huge changes-cultural and social. The original, often controversially constructed repertoire of recitals, is one of the characteristics of Joanna Trzeciak- a Polish pianist living in Belgium and educated in Krakow, Warsaw, and Moscow. These contrasts, however, are never accidental, and the goal of a somewhat surprising design is not banally shocking to the listener.
