Nduduzo Makhathini - The Myth We Choose - VINYL LP

Double vinyl LP pressing. 2024 . South African pianist, composer, philosopher, and healer Nduduzo Makhathini travels beyond any existing notion of music-making to offer his most profound vision of creative mysticism yet with uNomkhubulwane, his stunning eleventh studio album which is his third to be released on Blue Note Records following 2020's Modes of Communication Letters From The Underworlds and 2022's In The Spirit Of Ntu. McCraven's mastery of the loop is akin to hip-hop's most celebrated beatmakers like J Dilla & Madlib, both of whom have also remixed Blue Note tracks, but McCraven's unique approach also incorporates new recorded elements including his own drums, Joel Ross' vibraphone, Jeff Parker's guitar, & more. Taken from Abdullah Ibrahim's summer 2023 sold-out headline date at London's Barbican Centre, the new album Inch3Inch follows suit and is spread across two performances - the first is recorded without an audience ahead of the concert straight to analogue on a 1Inch Scully tape machine, which had previously been used by Elvis at the famous Memphis-based Sun Studios. The second recording is taken from the evening's performance itself with Ibrahim performing in a unique trio which includes Cleave Guyton (flute, piccolo, saxophone) who has performed alongside the likes of Aretha Franklin, Dizzy Gillespie, and Joe Henderson, as well as lauded bassist and cellist Noah Jackson, both of which are members of Ekaya and featured on Ibrahim's top 3 Billboard Jazz album InchThe BalanceInch. 3-LP, gatefold, 140g Album Tracks 1.
