Q: Can this lens be used with the Nikon D7200 body?
A: The Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 Z lens cannot be used with a Nikon D7200 camera because they have completely different mounts. Nikon, like other camera manufacturers, is transitioning from cameras with mirrors in them, which for Nikon is all cameras starting with "D" such as D7200, D850, D6, etc. to the world of mirrorless cameras which for Nikon is the Z50, Z5, Z6, Z7 and the newly released Z6II and Z7II. The mount (the hole in the camera body where the lens attaches to the body) is much larger in the Z series cameras than in the D series cameras (which are also known as F-mount cameras). There are a number of 70-200 mm lenses, from Nikon and third party manufacturers, which are F-mount and thus fit the D series cameras. You just have to check that the lens focusing is not driven by a motor in the body of the camera; I'm not sure the D7200 has that motor. For instance, I have the Nikon 70-200 mm f/4 F-mount lens for D series Nikon cameras which is relatively smaller, relatively lighter, and costs much less than the f/2.8 version. Finally, you might consider spending your money buying a Nikon Z camera kit with a lens--I recommend the Z5 or Z6 with the 24-70 mm f/4 lens. This will provide very sharp images with a smaller and lighter body; it also has a full-frame sensor which is larger than that in the D7200. The photography world is moving to mirrorless cameras.

Amazing piece of glass. I was shocked to find this lens briefly available, here at Best Buy online, as it seems to be out of stock indefinitely anywhere you can buy photography equipment. Also was nice to get the full rewards points for the purchase. This lens is living up to the hype. Super sharp, beautiful bokeh. I don't find it too heavy but I am use to carrying around big glass. I could see where some could find it on the heavier side but it has to be expected with a large aperture lens. It feels well built and solid. I also like the minimalist look of the Z lenses. The image stabilization is stunning with a native "Z" lens on my Z6 body. Handheld, through the viewfinder, it looks as if the camera is sitting on a tripod. I can't wait to see if this rings true with their much longer focal reach lenses the have on the lens roadmap. The autofocus seems a LOT more snappier, on point and dead silent. This is unbelievably perfect for recording video. I notice there is a hesitation with the lenses I use with the FTZ adapter. This seems to not be the issue with a Z mount lens on the Z body. Again, I am awaiting some longer "Z" zoom lenses to hope this is the case, across the board, as I'm sure it will be. The additional programable buttons and dial, near the mount, are really handy. It's perfect to program the dial to your EV +/- and quickly change it at any moment without having to use a combination of button pressing. I really wish Nikon would start making arca-swiss style lens feet so I don't need to buy a 3rd party one. The foot it comes with is adequate, but not very handy, and just typical for pretty much all their lenses. I just have it removed and out of the way until I can get one I don't need to attach a plate. The lens shows no quality degradation with the 1.4x teleconverter. I only have this tele, so unable to test with the 2x. If you are buying into the Nikon Z camera system and this lens is available, get it. You will not be sorry.

Probably the best 70-200 lens I've used from any manufacturer. It's autofocus is fast and accurate. It's not too heavy for daily use. Sharpness is absolutely incredible and the design build is flawless. I would buy this again and again.

I just received this lens and gave it a go in my yard. It is paired with a Nikon Z8 and the combo is excellent. It is fast and produces high quality images. Attached are several images. One of them is the original image with a bird on a house and the second is a cropped image with the bird. So far, this is a great lens. It is feels heavier than I expected but was able to take these shots without a tripod.
