    A Prime Performer

The Nikon 50mm f/1.8D lens is a prime lens that has become a staple in the camera bags of photographers worldwide, and for good reason. This lens delivers exceptional image quality and versatility, making it a standout choice for both beginners and seasoned photographers. One of the key strengths of the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D is its wide aperture of f/1.8. This allows for impressive low-light performance and beautiful background blur, commonly referred to as bokeh. The lens excels in capturing stunning portraits, emphasizing the subject with sharpness while gracefully blurring the background, adding a professional touch to every shot. The build quality of the lens is commendable. Despite its lightweight design, the construction feels robust and durable. The manual focus ring operates smoothly, providing a tactile feel that's appreciated, especially for photographers who enjoy fine-tuning their focus manually.

    Great prime lens!

I took this lens with me to New York Comic Con, and it performed great. I was able to take some really good head shots of people dressed in cosplay. I highly recommend this lens. It is small, light, and sharp! With a 1.8 aperture, you can take some sharp images at low light, as well.

    An amazing prime lens.

This is what they call the "Nifty Fifty" and for good reason! With a max aperture of f1.8, this is an essential lens for shooting in low light situations. It is my lens of choice for techniques such as light painting. Please keep in mind that this is a prime lens and, therefore, you have to physically move closer or further from your subject to achieve the framing that you desire. The only downsides that I have with it is that I have to be too close to my subjects for macros, while I have my extension tubes attached, and it will not auto focus on my camera, the Nikon D3300 (which really isn't a downside for me; as I will only use manual focus, but just about every other photographer that I know insists on having the option available). Lastly, price is a great selling point, $139 "out the door' for an authentic Nikkor lens!!!!
