Q: What's the big difference between this lens and the 85mm 1.8? Obviously quality but is the 1000k difference worth the leap, or will the 1.8 do just fine?

A: The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G has a lower aperture setting, and thereby is faster than an f/1.8 lens. A lower aperture setting allows more light to pass through the diaphragm of the lens, creating more natural exposure and can help to create beautiful bokeh images in which the background is nicely blurred. The AF-S 85mm f/1.4G lens is updated from it's predecessor and has a Nano Crystal Coating to provide inform color balance and contrast while eliminating ghosting and lens flare. Q: Will all the features of this lens work with Aa Nikon D-800?

A: Yes, definitely. And is an awesome lens, I used it on my new Nikon D850.

Q: IS this lens compatible with the Nikon D5100

A: Yes it is. It actually becomes a 127.5mm lens when you mount it on your d5100 due to the crop factor multiplication of 1.5 x 85mm
