I haven't bought a camera for like 8 years, and I had been wanting a light weight compact that has smart features that help the novice ( me ) with photography. I love photography and needed simple to understand, but something that would be clear pictures from a distance and close up and especially night photos. This camera also has WiFi and blutooth capability so I can send photos anytime I want to share. Very easy to opperate. Much more so then my last Nikon. Great purchase.

I've always loved taking pictures and decided to invest in my hobby, I bought this camera has both auto and Manuel settings. A lot of cool features and I would recommend this to anyone wanting to take a higher quality of picture.

I purchased this as a supplement to carry with my Nikon DSLR. There are times when I have a zoom lens only with me and wanted the freedom to shoot close up or zoom. While my main camera does most of the work, this lighter weight camera is good to carry along. It can deliver sharp images from a distance, however I found the auto focus to be a bit weak. Even close up auto focusing seems a little weak. The screen size and ability to view at different angles is good, but you must be accustomed to using the screen only when composing a shot. Personally it is much easier for me to look into a viewfinder. Overall not a bad camera, but for the price, I can't recommend it as an only camera.

Great beginner camera! It’s very easy to navigate and takes beautiful pictures for a great price. Battery life is what sets this camera back. I used it for a good 3-4 hours total before I had to replace batteries. But other than that it is a good product.

I would've given this a 5 star if it used the same rechargeable batteries as my Nikon D3100 which I've had for decades. I like the quality of the pictures, but the sensor on whether I still have my lens cap on is too sensitive and currently I need to smack it to "wake it up.". I get an error message " take off lens cap and turn off camera and turn it back on. " Frustrating , but still workable.

This is a wonderful camera. I am an experienced photographer (old school even with film developing and printing) and I have found this to be fantastic. The optics are great, it is perfectly balanced, easy grip, fingers fall right onto the controls. It uses AA batteries, so if you run out of power they are found everywhere. The only fault I have is one that is apparent in all digital point/shoot cameras now, there is no viewfinder. Bridge cameras for high end users used to have a viewfinder as there are lightening situation where the screen is not visible, but I think bridge cameras cut into DSLR sales and viewfinders and high end bridge cameras were eliminated. The 40X optical zoom is terrific and to be able to go from that to almost zero for macro is wonderful. A great camera.

I'm consider myself an amateur photographer, but I like to think I get off some decent shots every so often. After my old camera died after falling from my backpack, I was in the market for a new one like it but with a few extra features. I tried a Sony camera, but there was no way to control the macros. I exchanged it for this one and it was like night and day. This camera is really good and takes sharp pictures. There are also many different shooting modes that can yield some very artistic results, especially the Moon Mode which yielded some beautiful shots of... Well... The MOON. The zoom on this camera is like nothing I've ever seen. I've taken shots from miles away and zoomed in so close you would think I was about 20 feet away. Also, because this camera uses AA batteries, if I drain a set, I just replace them easily. While this camera does have a lot of features, some of them are pretty complex and difficult to understand. I recommend reading the manual online in order to get a full understanding as the included manual is only useful for getting started.

I first liked this because of the plum color, sad but true. Then I read the reviews and all were mostly good. The one that got me the most was being able to take pictures of the moon. I was like no way. Way. I'm not a photographer by any means, just wanted a good camera for vacation and sports etc. This is above and beyond what I need and I love it. Got a great pic of my son's intense face from across the field, zoomed in on animals in the tops of trees or at the zoo. very impressed. It's made some fun Instagram pics lol

This camera is excellent for beginners, it’s easy to use and fun to explore the settings. Granted, don’t expect professional photos as it’s not a 4K but nonetheless, the pictures do come out clear and beautiful. I’m exploring macro photography so it’s quite good for it, I’ve won a few contests with this camera although I will upgrade soon. This camera is good if you’re just learning photography, and doesn’t have complicated settings.

I am not a pro, however this camera takes great shots. On the night of the Super Moon and not using a tri-pod , I zoomed out as far as I could. O. M. Goodness, the moon had such great detail and color. That is just one example, you will not be disappointed.

I've been using Nikon cameras for over 30+ years, everything from film SLR's to DSLR's to compact Point & Shoots, and I've never been disappointed. I picked up this Coolpix B500 to make videos with, as I wanted something a little more compact than my full frame D5 DSLR & under $300 & this fits the bill perfectly. Great Nikkor lens with 40x optical/up to 4x digital/80x total zoom, records 1080p Full HD movie clips up to 30 fps with stereo sound, full range of shooting modes, with burst shooting mode that captures up to 7.4 fps in continuous shooting mode. Plus a plethora of other goodies. It'll make novice photogs look great & good photogs look like pros!

I am so glad I dropped my other camera in the ocean. Not really cause it was a good camera but this camera is even better. I need a Point and Shoot to tag along with my D5100 and this B500 takes great pics. I love the Bird watchers scene setting. It works great! I do a lot of wild bird photos mostly of eagles and other raptors. The pictures are clear and crisp, and even from a distance they come out great! Any birder looking to shoot pictures as a hobby should definitely check this camera out! Nikon is great I love their cameras.

Great camera for taking shots from afar. Lack of viewfinder can make it hard to find small moving target. Price point is what attracted me as my Tamron zoom broke before the super moon and this was the quickly on the day option other than the P900. I got some great pics of the moon for a very low outlay of cash. Very happy, view finder would be nice and raw image support would be nice.

I love taking pictures on my phone but it takes up too much memory and I never print them. So I decided to take a Chance and get this camera and I’m glad I did. Its very appealing and functional. The pictures I take all look good but I have messed with the settings for that.

First I like the color. I've read the reviews for this and it requires AA batteries. I'm not a photographer by any means but I usually take pictures of birds or lizards in my backyard and can get a better picture quality than my other camera. I've also taken pictures at the zoo/safari park. I haven't tried to connect to the WiFi yet but eventually I will. Just having fun using the camera.
