Nina Hagen - Personal Jesus - VINYL LP

Unity is a collaboration with funk visionary George Clinton. It is a wonderfully lightly flowing and cosmically glistening dub number that pays homage to the Black Lives Matter movement. The two of them wrote the song as an immediate response to the death of George Floyd. The synthesizer melodies swing like gentle waves to stuttering hi-hats while Nina and George sing against hate InchPositive vibrations surround the world's nations!Inch The song InchAtomwaffensperrvertragInch is explicitly political. In it, Nina Hagen remixes two sampled excerpts from speeches (one she gave in 2009 at the United Nation Freedom Festival at Brandenburg Gate and a UN speech from US politician Dennis Kucinich), creating a pulsing tour de force with country guitars, jumbled voices and frantic percussions.

Fifteen years after Personal Jesus, Nina Hagen returns to her great passion for gospel music with HiGHWAY TO HEAVEN.Together with producer Warner Poland, her band, and friends such as Nana Mouskouri and Gitte Hænning, shereinterprets classics-from Mahalia Jackson to Sister Rosetta Tharpe to Kitty Wells. The album combines Southern gospel, Americana, reggae, and punk from the powerful reworking of InchSomebodyPrayed for MeInch to the Americana version of InchNever Grow OldInch and a German version of InchEverybody Wanna Go toHeaven.InchHiGHWAY TO HEAVEN is a lively, genre-defying gospel-rock-pop album, full of joy, spirituality, and Nina Hagen'sunmistakable personality
