Niney the Observer - Roots with Quality - VINYL LP

The Lost Sound of Augustus PabloAvailable for the first time ever on vinyl, Roots Vibes returns in a newly remastered 30th Anniversary Edition, unveiling a rare collection of recordings from reggae pioneer Bunny InchStrikerInch Lee, shaped by Augustus Pablo's unmistakable Far East sound.A deep excursion into fourteen heavyweight instrumental and dub recordings spanning 1972 to 1992, the album is anchored by timeless Jamaican riddims and Pablo's haunting melodica melodies, carried by the rock-solid pulse of The Aggrovators and masterfully mixed by King Tubby, Prince Jammy, Phillip Smart and Pat Kelly.Cut at Kingston's most revered studios-Randy's Studio 17, Treasure Isle, Dynamic Sounds, Channel One and Harry J Studios-these recordings embody the golden age of reggae and dub. Built on classic rhythms first immortalised by artists including The Eternals, Prince Buster, John Holt, Ken Boothe and Don Drummond, Bunny Lee's signature approach of reinventing proven riddims is transformed by Pablo's deeply spiritual playing into something entirely his own.More than three decades after it's original , Roots Vibes remains a compelling showcase of Augustus Pablo's singular artistry and a lasting testament to one of reggae's most visionary musicians. Vinyl LP pressing. Niney the Observer's 'Sledgehammer Dub In The Street Of Jamaica' LP has always been considered to be a long lost gem with Dub collectors. Originally released in early 1977 and pressed in a limited quantity of between 300 to 400 copies the record was a compilation of Dubs devoid of vocals but high on rhythms - mixed with feeling and showcasing the talents of both musicians and mixing engineers. King Tubby's involvement is clear, as is that of all the other parties involved such as Niney, The Soul Syndicate and The Cimarrons to name but a few. The actual LP title was derived from how King Tubby mixed his tracks. Strong! Niney described the sound coming from the speakers as like having a sledgehammer hitting you on your head. Niney himself is steeped in Reggae history, making songs for the likes of Lee Perry, Bunny Lee, Joe Gibbs and Coxsone, producing the masterful Blood And Fire cut and being one of the first to experiment with sound in early reggae.'Sledgehammer Dub In The Street Of Jamaica' was pressed on Nineys own Observer tag without a jacket and has become something of a holy grail for collectors of dub. Album Tracks 1. Dub Long Rastafari 2. Travelling Version 3. You're No Dub Baby 4. Burning Dub 5. Kingsgate Version 6. Dub Now 7. God Bless My Dub 8. Everyone's Dubbing 9. Rich and Poor Dub 10.
