Nirvana was released following the settlement of a long-standing legal dispute between Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, and surviving Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl. Novoselic and Grohl had wanted to it on a long-delayed Nirvana rarities box set. However, Love blocked the song's , and sued Novoselic and Grohl over control of Nirvana's legacy. Love's lawsuit maintained that InchYou Know You're RightInch was a Inchpotential 'hit' of extraordinary artistic and commercial value.Inch She believed that InchYou Know You're RightInch would be InchwastedInch on a box set, and instead belonged on a single-disc compilation similar to The Beatles' 1. In September 2002, it was announced by the Nirvana camp that the lawsuit had been settled, and that InchYou Know You're RightInch would be released on InchNirvana, a one-CD history of the band.Inch

Released in 1991, Nirvana's sophomore album and major tag debut elevated Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl from a critically acclaimed cult band to generation spokesmen who'd unwittingly created a cultural shift and musical touchstone. Rising to #1 and ultimately selling over 30 million copies worldwide, Nevermind would come to be much more than one of the most successful and influential albums of the Rock era. Now on the occasion of Nevermind's 20th anniversary, Universal presents a full spectrum re- worthy of such a pivotal classic.
