Nix - Sausage Studio Sessions - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Like Sun Ra's Arkestra and John Coltrane are to jazz, the Mystic Revelation of Rastafari are to reggae - the ultimate expression of roots music and Rastafarian ideology in reggae music, music functioning at a high level of spiritual consciousness combined with an equally avant-garde and forward-looking approach to sound. The group's stunning, unique and groundbreaking 1973 album 'Grounation', a mighty conceptual triple-album (the first ever reggae triple!) is, similar to Marvin Gaye's 'What's Goin' On', a definitive all-encompassing cultural statement of it's time and place. A sprawling album of raw and unique cultural expression that combined Rastafari consciousness with deep spiritual jazz music - an absolute and essential classic of Reggae music. The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari group came into existence at the start of 1970s, the union of two former Studio One artists (and groups) of equal repute - Count Ossie & his African Drums and saxophonist Cedric 'I'm' Brooks' & his group, The Mystics. Master drummer Count Ossie and his collective of Rastafarian drummers performed for Haile Selassie on his momentous visit to Jamaica in 1966. Cedric Brooks came out of the Alpha Boys School - the fertile breeding ground of musicians who dominated the Jamaican music scene from the 1960s onwards. The Mystic Revelation Of Rastafari's 'Grounation' is a massive opus, a work of profound musical genius that tells the story of Jamaica through music and words. A cornerstone in the history of reggae, a unique and other-worldly album the like of which has never been made since. Soul Jazz Records are releasing this long-revered album in a deluxe 2 CD edition complete with large- booklet encased in double-walled slipcase. Comes with extensive new sleevenotes, photography, exact reproductions of the original text and artwork, and a new interview with founding member Sam Williams (aka Tim

Nickel's 1971 debut blends rock, country, and psychedelic touches into a restless, shape-shifting sound that reveals new layers with every listen. This collector's gem is full of elusive harmonies, shimmering guitar, and lyrical tension, and captures the ambition and uncertainty of late-60s experimentation.

2018 . Eye of Nix was formed in 2012 with the intent of conjuring music that is threatening, beautiful, and harsh. Founding vocalist & guitarist Joy Von Spain, guitarist Nicholas Martinez, and noise/sound collage artist Masaaki Masao were joined in 2017 by bassist Zach Wise and drummer Luke LaPlante. Recorded by renowned producer Billy Anderson (Bell Witch, Pallbearer) at The Hallowed Halls in Portland, Oregon and mastered by Brad Boatright (Gatecreeper, Necrot), their new LP Black Somnia centers on themes of fear, control, and anxiety while shape-shifting through a lens of blackened psychedelia and doom. Commented vocalist Joy Von Spain InchThe album is an exploration of the forces of fear and control, responses to these insidious, unseen powers, the specter that remains when we awaken from mysterious and frightening dreams. Billy Anderson worked with us on ideas to preserve the noisier elements of our sound and the layers of atmosphere.Inch The visual elements for Black Somnia were created in collaboration with occult photographer and artist Carlos Melgoza (Anima Nocturna) and an international group of Butoh performers (Alan Sutherland, Vanessa Skantze, Marina Sossi) with Susan DuMett (Vox Vespertinus). Black Somnia's first print run was issued in the US as a vinyl-only edition pressing limited to 250. Through the prominence of Black Somnia's original pressing, the result is an official worldwide through Prophecy (first time on CD & a new version of the LP). The majestic elements of the album seamlessly accent each other, creating a memorable mesmerizing audio experience that will hypnotize the listeners senses. Admirers of Pharmakon, Satyricon and early Soundgarden will find Black Somnia to be a uniquely intriguing musical masterpiece. The band has accomplished to create an album that defies all genre standards within modern day dark music. Eye of Nix InchBlack
