Odeon Trio - Piano Trios - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Anyone who has survived the cursed seventh year may hope for a rosy future. The Orelon Trio, founded in Cologne in 2018, has just crossed this significant threshold-though it's members Judith Stapf, Arnau Rovira i Bascompte, and Marco Sanna never had to find their footing together within a short time, these Inchmeteoric risersInch made a name for themselves, quickly guest-performing at renowned venues; high-caliber competition successes followed naturally (ARD, Melbourne, Graz), their first recordings and enthusiastic response from professional circles were not long in coming. How could it be otherwise, when the three musicians' InchorelojInch (Esperanto for ears) are so excellently attuned that they can perceive unheard-of things even in familiar repertoire. This first cpo by the Orelon Trio leaves no doubt about that. Album Tracks 1. Piano Trio No. 3 in F minor, Op. 65~Allegro ma non troppo 2. These three Catalan piano trios reveal illuminating facets of each composer. Roberto Gerhard’s early trio exudes a distinctly French ethos, alongside that of de Falla, very different from his later asperity. Xavier Montsalvatge’s much later work, written between 1986 and 1988, owes its origin to disparate sources but forms an impressive whole, and is lyrical, expressive, sensual and dance-like in turn. Admired as a cellist, Gaspar Cassadó composed a brilliantly virtuoso trio, influenced by earlier Spanish models, but revealing great panache and considerable demands via guitar imitations, Malagueña rhythms and lashings of folkloric brio.
