Featuring members of Teenage Bottlerocket.

Limited silver colored vinyl LP pressing. Heavy Metal is the debut solo album from Geese frontman Cameron Winter. It's an unexpected sonic left turn from Geese's now-patented brand of jam-adjacent indie twang. Winter mostly forgoes stadium-sized guitars in favor of a softer touch that puts his mystical, imaginative lyrical style on full display. Occasionally confounding, endlessly rewarding, Heavy Metal reveals Winter as a chameleonic master of his craft, a shapeshifting singer-songwriter in the mold of greats like Dylan, Cohen, and Nilsson.
There's a gap between what we want, how it is, and what we want to be. An existential divide between how we dream, how we feel, how we think, and what actually gets done in the modern world. Wives doesn't know how to reconcile this, and they don't try to give you the answer; instead, So Removed, their incisive debut album due out in October via City Slang, plunges into that void of unknown, a tangle of contemporary dread and optimism, mapping the gray areas of alienation. The Queens, NY four-piece is the latest fit into a long lineage of New York's gritty, melodic-meets-punk. So Removed, is hook-driven, grungy dark-wave, tethered to daily anxiety without resorting to cynicism. The noisy dissonance of Sonic Youth, the edgy hooks of early Pixies, and the clever, cerebral sneering of the Fall simmer as touchstones within the LP, sharp and prodding at the details, pulsing with urgency.A1. 2015 full length album from Bay Area cross-dressing, geriatric superstars, The Grannies. The new set picks up where 2011's for Those About to Forget to Rock left off with an arthritic and defiant middle finger raised high above a squalid rawk'n'roll soundtrack. Lead singer Bjorn Toulouse wails hard won lessons about dodgy friends, gentrification and love to the chaos while producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, the Gits, Valiant Thor) aptly synthesizes the band's well-fermented bile and grungy, virulent twin-guitar attack on tunes like 'Soviet', 'Wade in Bloody Water' and 'Modern Medicine'. The CD edition of the album features remixes of 'The Corner of F*ck and You' by Ben Addison (of UK acid jazz legends Corduroy) and 'Glittersh*tter' by German producer, DJ and sound designer Matt Flores.
