About this product
Pianist Oliver Triendl and violinist Isabelle van Keulen present here the complete output for their instruments by an almost unknown Russian composer Grigory Frid (1915-2012). The pieces encompass a composition period of time going from late 40s to early 70s and feature different styles which may recall Shostakovich to Schnittke. The atmospheres are also much diversified, but the music always conveys a great sense of depth and feeling, both musically and emotionally.

HC25024 Schelb IIInchMy encounter with Josef Schelb's music can be best described as a feeling of extraordinary joy. One hears such expressive sounds, paired with carefully harmonised structures. In addition, there is always a wonderfully playful approach to the various forms and to the peculiarities of some specific moments, as can also be found in Richard Strauss and Sergei Prokofiev. Definitely a musician's composer!Inch(Leo Siberski)

In the wake of World War I and the October Revolution, countless artists emigrated from Eastern Europe to Paris. Alexander Tcherepnin was soon welcomed and adopted by groups of artists such as the École de Paris, a loose gathering of emigrants from several countries that included Bohuslav Martinu and Romanian composer Marcel Mihalovici. Diyang Mei has held the position of principal viola of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra since the fall of 2019. In October 2022 he will start the position of principal viola with the Berliner Philharmoniker.
