A: The M.Zuiko 17mm F1.8 lens is a great all around lens with moderate wide angle capabilities. However, the M.Zuiko 12mm F2.0 lens is much better suited for landscape photography due to the wider angle of view. This lens also has excellent sharpness, very low distortion and a fast max aperture, making it one of the favorite landscape lenses among micro 4/3 users.

While not as fast as the Olympus Pro f/1.2 17mm lens, this still does the job nicely except in really dim low-light conditions. The advantage of this lens is its much smaller size and its much more affordable price. It’s solidly built and I’ve had absolutely no problems with it. I’m very pleased with the lens and would recommend it to any MF-T shooter.

17mm is 34mm on a micro four thirds sensor and almost 51mm on a super 16mm sensor. It makes a great wide angle street lens on a panasonic or olympus body. I use it as a standard video lens on a blackmagic pocket cinema camera. The focus ring has 2 settings that can be changed like a clutch. In auto it is focus by wire that spins infinitely. In manual mode there is a distance guage and hard stops. Very versatile and useful. Not to mention fast and sharp image in a golf ball sized lens.

Pros: It's a great compact size, the pump action focus ring is really handy and the focus is very fast and silent. Cons: Pictures arn't as sharp especially in the corners compared to other prime lenses like the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7
