ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra - Voyages - Orchestral Music - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Miloslav Kabelac ranks among the most significant Czech composers of the 20th century. Alongside Antonin Dvorak and Bohuslav Martinu, he is recognized as one of the greatest Czech symphonists, and his work represents a cornerstone of Czech musical heritage. His work encompasses nearly all musical genres except opera, but at it's core are eight symphonies, each with a unique orchestration. With the czech conductor Jakub Hrusa the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra had a welcome expert for this recording, as he examines carefullythese rich orchestrated scores of this still underrated music and composer.

S. Barber - Orchestral Works 2 [COMPACT DISCS] date 03/20/2001

Spring, in the last, mixed virgin forest in Europe (Bialowieza, Poland). Below the magnificent canopy formed by trees several centuries old, the resonant birdsong is magical. This concert featuring over thirty different birds and mammals will introduce you to species such as the Wolf, the Bison and the Lesser Spotted Eagle, all symbol of fast disappearing nature. A recording of Pierre Huguet, which offers in only one disc a unique and representative concert of the European virgin forest.
