About this product
This rare Oscar Moore recording was one of the few he made in stereo. Recorded for Omega in 1957, it combines Oscar with Leroy Vinegar on bass. This remained unreleased in all other formats due to some problems in the recording. It seems that Oscar accompanied himself via overdubbing. Something went wrong. The result was mud. However, with digital enhancement, the sound has been recovered and everything can now be heard. This is some fine Oscar Moore playing, which no fan of jazz guitar will want to miss.

After leaving the original Nat King Cole trio in 1947, Oscar Moore became one of the most highly regarded jazz guitarists, winning the Esquire and Downbeat polls several years in a row. This album from 1954 includes Lee Young, Joe Comfort and legendary pianist Carl Perkins, along with bongo virtuoso Mike Pacheco on ten of the sixteen selections. This CD contains two albums produced by Bob Scherman for on his own labels, Skylark and Tampa.

The Stayres came out swinging on their eponymous in late 23', great melodies, loud guitars and more hooks to count. On Duplex the hooks are still there but the assortment of sounds and songcraft take you well beyond the wall of guitars of their debut. From the single InchTundraInch to the push and shove of InchDon't Touch the HumansInch, Mike Nicolai's vocals are out front on this one, and that's good because they need to be heard. Duplex is a wild ride you don't want to miss out on.
