Movies are the obvious reason to add a subwoofer, and the TreVoce 12 PRO handles the big moments without breaking a sweat. What makes it worth the money is everything else. It goes low enough that you feel a train pass or an organ settle onto its bottom note, and it stays quick enough that a bass guitar still sounds like a bass guitar instead of a thud. That comes down to how it is built: one 12-inch driver does the work while two more move along with it, which gives you the depth of a much bigger cabinet without the hollow boom that ported subwoofers make once you turn them up. Setup takes a few minutes, and the remote lets you adjust the bass level and how the subwoofer blends with your speakers from where you are sitting, so you can ease it back for late-night TV and bring it up again for movie night. It connects to a new AV receiver or an older stereo amplifier that has no subwoofer output at all, and the leather-grain cabinet is finished to look like furniture rather than a black box in the corner.
