Otis Redding - Otis Blue / Otis Redding Sings Soul - VINYL LP
About this product
UK LP pressing. Otis Redding Sings Soul is the third album by soul singer Otis Redding and is considered by many critics to be Redding's first great album. Recorded in April and July of 1965, it was released September 15th of that same year. Otis Blue includes covers of three songs by Sam Cooke, Redding's idol, who died the previous December in 1964. Their styles couldn't have been more different; Cooke smooth and sure, Redding raw and pleading. But Redding's versions of InchShakeInch and InchA Change Is Gonna ComeInch show how Cooke's sound and message helped shape Redding's Southern soul sound. Redding's singing reaches a new level of expressiveness with this as well as with covers of B.B. King's InchRock Me BabyInch and the Motown hit InchMy GirlInch.

Recorded almost entirely in a single day, Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul delivers some of the strongest soul renditions ever put to tape. This includes the Redding original InchI've Been Loving You Too LongInch, a cover of the Rolling Stones' InchSatisfactionInch, and an early recording of InchRespectInch, which was later made popular by Aretha Franklin. Considered by critics to be the definitive soul album of it's period, Otis Blue has been ranked one of Rolling Stone Magazine's 'Greatest Albums of All Time' as well as Time Magazine's 'All-Time 100 Greatest Albums'. In celebration of Black Music Month, this album has been cut from the original tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering and is pressed locally on 180 gram premium-quality vinyl at Fidelity Record Pressing's brand new plant in Oxnard, California as part of Rhino's new Rhino Reserve line.
