I had this case for over a year already and my phone is in about the same condition as when I got this case though the covered by the lightning port got annoying it started tearing eventually and then in the end I ripped it off and after taking the phone out of the case a few times one time when I was trying to put the phone back in the plastic part of the case on the bottom, got a little crack but it’s still fine.

The commuter case is more boxy than the symmetry case. It’s basic and thin with two layers of protection. Keeps phone safe despite some drops and fits easily in back pocket. There’s a clip for power cord access.

I always try, buy the best covers, for different reasons, for example at work, I'm a security systems technician, most of the time I work it going up and down very high stairs, that's why I use this type of cell phone protector .

Bottom Line: Otterbox Commuter case is the perfect balance of protection and practicality. Pros: Great protection, easy to install and remove, charging port cover Cons: Adds some weight and bulk to the phone Review: My wife (who also lets our toddler play with her phone) is rough on phones and, subsequently, phone cases. In the past year, the two of them have managed to literally rip the previous case to pieces. Additionally, we had to get a replacement iPhone because the Lightning port stopped working on the original one. I considered a lot of different cases (including other Otterboxes) and chose the Commuter series, because it met all of the conditions we needed in a case: durability, slim enough to fit in a back pocket, and could accomodate a glass screen protector. The case is made of two materials: a soft rubber that wraps the entire device (to absorb impact) and a hard plastic that offers structure and rigidity. Together, the case is really durable and (so far) has deterred my daughter from trying to tear the case around the button coverings and port. I also like that there’s a flap to cover the port to prevent dirt from getting in. The extra protection that the Commuter series offers does add some additional weight and bulk to the phone. However, if you’re someone who tends to be rough on phones, it’s a fair tradeoff for the additional protections this case offers.

I'm not a big fan of the defender series because it's too bulky. This commuter line hits the sweet spot between protection and not too rugged. I've dropped the phone a couple of times and no problems this far. Overall it fits the phone perfectly and it doesn't feel clunky at all.

I had the same type of case for my IPhone 6. So when I picked up the IPhone 8 I already knew I wanted this case. Nice and snug fit and protects the phone nicely. I also like this case because it doesn't make the phone too bulky.

These Commuter cases have always provided my family great protection for our numerous phones without unnecessary bulk. My iPhone 7 still fits easily in my front pocket and price ea value. matching Amazon made it a gr

I love this case! It keeps my phone small and also provides great protection (not always an easy combination to find). The black finish makes my phone look very sleek! The only downfall is that the material is a tad slippery, but there is some grip provided on the sides.

The commuter is my favorite. Not as bulky as the defender and better protection than the symmetry. Fits great. Looks great.

Commuter Otter Box has been great so far: 1 month. I like the 2 piece design: soft cover over the buttons and the outer hard shell. Not as bulky as other designs, but solid feel and not too heavy. So far no issues with the cover to access lightning port in contrast to some reviews saying theirs broke quickly. Since this case does not include a screen cover I also added a glass screen protector. I feel that my iPhone 7 is generally well protected.

I had an Otterbox Commuter series case for my iPhone 6S and loved it, so it was only natural to get a new one for my new iPhone SE 2. This case went on very easily and I'm very happy with it. It offers very good protection but all buttons still function just as they should. The back is thick enough to protect the camera lens when the phone is laid down on a table or desk, and I like the cover on the bottom that keeps dust out of the lightning connection when the phone is not being charged. I have no complaints about the function of this case at all. The only "drawback" is that this case was designed for the iPhone 7 and 8. While it fits the SE 2 perfectly, the Apple logo in the back is lower on the SE than on the 7 and 8, so with this case on you don't see the logo in the circle on the back. (I'm sure they will adjust this for future SE 2 specific cases.) Honestly, I don't care. I have a black SE 2 so with this black case, you just see a black circle. I think it looks fine and Apple doesn't need any more free logo advertising from me. It doesn't bother me but if that kind of thing does bother you, you may want to hold out for an SE 2 specific case. Like most Otter Box cases, this one is not cheap -- but you get what you pay for and with Otter Box, more cost means very high quality so I think it is worth it.

Really good phone case. Offers great protection, coupled with slim design. While not a minimalist case, it is still slim enough to fit in the front pocket of a pair of jeans, or khakis. The front is slightly raised above the screen, and has good enough tackiness that I’m confident the phone will stay in my pocket when wearing sweat pants or gym shorts.

My iphones used the Mophie battery case but on the iphone 8 its just to hard to take off.... The Otter Box is less bulky (no battery build in) and protects the phone. Not sure how much of a drop it will handle.

Excellent case for the price !! My phone has no cracks because of this awesome case! Not bulky and fits in my pocket.

Bought this for my 13 year old nephew. He loves it. Got it on sale so it was well worth the price. Adds enough protection without adding too much bulk. There is no screen protector included, but we use Zagg glass protectors so the case was perfect.

Solid secure fit. Good drop protection with a small footprint. Easy to apply and fit to phone. Low volume protection and fits in most all pockets

It is an Otterbox product, that alone says a lot. The fit was nice and snug. I feel with an Otterbox I am getting the best protection for my device, hard outer layer, soft shock absorbing inner layer. Not bulky, sleek and visually appealing. The most cost effective protection you can get for your device.
