OtterBox - Defender Series Pro XT Hard Shell with Magnets for Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro - Dark Side

I have been a continual OtterBox Defender user since my first Galaxy S twenty years ago, plus most of my family's phones, with a five star experience . However, the new Defender XT is a bit less Happy Happy Joy Joy. 1) It does not have the two-piece hardshell plus one piece rubber overlay; instead it is an integrated clear hardshell back with permanently mounted hard rubber frame, plus a snap-on hard bezel 2) Does not come in bright colors easily discernable if phone dropped in a field or in a pile on a table etc. 3) Holster while free must be ordered separately after taking delivery of case. (so how does one give the usual Defender additional protection to the screen behond a glass screensaver?) 4) While of course flippable screen side out vs back side out, he holster must cradle the phone with the "base" (e.g. charging port & speakers) clamped in one orientation only. There are no distantly-visible (e.g. cannot look down to hip holster) clues as to which direction to mount the phone when in a hurry to holster. I have to attach colored tape (or paint) large visual clues to both the holster and the case to quicly see "which end is up". 5) The clear base offers less protection from solar heating. It also makes the underlying phone color more important. I would have preferred a solid color, rubberized blaze orange cerise pink or bright lime green, or a reflective metallic silver. I want my phone cool in sunlight and visible yards away if misplaced. 6) The instuction sheet and the training video fail to show the new two-piece design; instead they show the old three-piece. So out of the box, users may inadvertantly break off the rubber frame while trying to separate the (nonremovable) rubber frame. The instructionsl materials must be updated immediately.

Great material quality. Its not a thick cake but also not too thin and has a clean style.

Got this case for my Pixel 10 Pro and it's been solid. Dropped the phone a few times already on concrete and hardwood, no damage at all to the phone. It really protects like OtterBox promises. The Dark Side color is basically clear back with black edges, looks nice and shows off the phone a bit without being plain. Feels premium and not too cheap looking. Grip is good with the rubber sides, doesn't slip out of hand. The magnets work great for wireless charging, snaps right on and charges fast. It's a bit bulky compared to thinner cases, but that's what you get for this level of protection. Buttons are easy to press, ports are covered from dust. Overall, happy with it. Phone is safe and it still looks good. Worth it if you tend to drop your stuff.

Overall this case is pretty good except for a couple of complaints. The first is how difficult it is to put on and take case off. I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong but the case is a pain to remove or replace. The other complaint is that the small magnet came off and was sticking to my phone. I just put it back on the case and seems to be ok. Not good for an $80 case. I guess one final complaint is how slippery the back of the case can get. I keep having to wipe it down even though I keep my hands fairly clean. Besides that the case is protective and sturdy.

Good case no issues with the fit or function but everytime I take the phone out to replace the screen protector the bottom set of magnets come out still attached to the phone and I have to take them off and put them back in where I'm assuming they were glued poorly with a defective adhesive. Small defect for an otherwise effective case. I've tried other cases but none are as capable for for my needs working outdoors 90 percent of the time. They all lack the grip and port protection provided by the defender series cases. So while the quality control could be better I'll most likely continue to use these cases for some time to come and just file a warranty claim if necessary.
