I purchased this intending to use it without the $200/yr LTE comnectivity plan and found out AFTER the conviently long “free connectivity trial” that the device doesnt work AT ALL without you paying for the $200/yr “LTE” subscription. Its more like a yearly fee for if you still want your device to work. I was told by customer service that parking mode does not work AT ALL (no recording) without the “connectivity” subscription. Furthermore, the direct connect feature for non subscribed owners to retrieve videos via the app and a direct wifi connection from your phone showed that since my Owlcam lost “connectivity” it didnt record a single second of video over the past two weeks. If you are looking for an expensive brick you can put on your windshield to obscure your view and have absolutely no liability protection in an accident this is the perfect product for you. Unless of course you’d like to pay $200/year after paying $300 for the dashcam itself. Then its perfect.

Pros: - Easy to install - designed to conceal the cabling along your windshield down to the OBD port. - Using the OBD port is also smart because it allows you to run the camera when parked without having to worry about recharging a battery. Previous dash cams I purchased ran over USB so I had to purchase massive Mophie battery packs with enough juice to power these overnight and swap them out in the morning so I could try to get parking coverage during the day as well because the cam would power down after you turned the car off. unplug the dash cam that should be considered too. - Initially the app and notifications worked well, but being fully transparent if you don’t plan on paying for cellular service it’s almost not worth it to get this model because the local video sync feature (aka syncing over WiFi directly to your phone) never works. In the event that the dash cam was stolen you’d literally have nothing to show for the purchase and no evidence. - Good video quality and viewing angle (i.e. if someone were to break into your car thru the side windows the camera lens is wide enough to capture both driver and passenger windows in addition to the front). - Smart dual-camera design - doesn’t require running more wiring for rear cameras or a separate dash cam to mount in the rear are (although in most cases it’s more monitoring the cabin or the crook about to steal the dash cam versus capturing the car slamming into the back of you from behind due to how low it mounts on the windshield and how high the passenger seats are in my car). - Cloud recording - great for if the device were to get stolen and they do warranty against theft as long as you have the video footage and police report (extra incentive to get the cellular plan). Also nice - they don’t charge extra for cloud storage and it’s not quota-ed. Any automatic video clips or voice recorded clips are automatically uploaded as well. - 160GB internal storage - no need to purchase an SD card or worry about someone stealing the SD card from the camera (in which case the only video that would exist of the incident would be if you had a cloud copy). Other dash cams I have looked at charge extra for parts to block access to the SD port to prevent theft or charge a premium for built-in storage. Cons: - Price. There’s a company that literally sells this exact same body and cam with a different name for $79.99. This is honestly how this should be marketed and sold because I’m sure they get some kind of kickback of cut of the cellular cost and this would offer consumers the best experience - when you look at a lot of the bad reviews on this - most have to do with syncing over WiFi when you choose NOT to purchase cellular service. They should subsidize the camera cost more to encourage more people to add service. - NOT for places with extreme heat. Once the camera reaches a certain temperatures it will start malfunctioning - this includes freezing, becoming unresponsive (light just flashes but cam does nothing or does not respond - and other times just completely dead and will boot up when a more desirable temp is reached). - Poor mounting support. There’s only one suction mount to hold up the weight of this dash cam and over time especially with heat it’s gotten to the point where it no longer adheres to the windshield and when driving, the mount will fall and before I know it the dash cam is flying off the dash on the passenger floor area/seat. This mount should be redesigned with multiple suction points to better support the weight of the cam. - No backup battery. A battery backup would be nice. I mean the ODB port is nice because in most cars it’s hidden versus USB ports which are usually much more visually present and accessed. With no battery backup either way, unplugging the cam could thwart recording/uploading of an incident in case of say a theft or vandalism.

I have had my camera since April the 5.0 model is great I pay the monthly plan I believe in making sure a company earn my money every month, haven’t had any issue my car got hit at 3:00am while I was sleep Owlcam caught the incident it was a open shut case for insurance. It’s one of those product you don’t need till you do and you will be greatly relieved that owlcam got your back 24 hour 7 days a week even while your sleep and the zombie are roaming lol.

Terrible world off AT&T service and if your in an area where there’s no service and you have a car accident or if you have a passenger that’s acting up it will not catch the footage due to not having service in that zone.also monthly fee $21 monthly

It doesn't work, I pay the membership and I don't work either. I contacted support and they just talk, they don't have the experience.

Is better than the previous version but every now and then it resets on its own while driving which I don’t like. Also a bike crash in front of my car while it was park and the cámara didn’t record a thing

Love my Owlcam. One of my favorite features is having the ability to see what's happening inside and outside my car at all times and getting the alerts to my phone and apple watch. I would recommend that everyone that has a car gets one of these.

Got the Owlcam last week and really enjoying it so far. Have never had a dashcam before so thought I'd try it. I researched a few and I liked that this one is touch screen. Kids are having fun with the interior features and already have footage of deer crossing the road! The app is definitely dated, but overall easy to share footage with my friends and family.

Do not buy an Owlcam. The unit does not sync with an iPhone and the service department of theirs is awful. They send you emails that they are working on issues and they don't. There are MANY other brands of dash cam that is better and works. This is a rip off.

Don't buy it because it only works for few months. You're going have to pay the membership from owel company which its too high yearly fee .
