About this product
If the city of Los Angeles had a soundtrack, it would be Ozomatli's music. Since forming in 1995, the lineup's collaborative, energetic blend of multi-cultural music and activism has earned the band three GRAMMYs®, four Hollywood Bowl shows, a TED Talk and and much more. But more importantly, Ozo has inspired and energized listeners worldwide through their music and activism, even at gigs in locales including Burma and Mongolia, Ozomatli's messages and music, sung in both Spanish and English, need no translation. Circa 2022, Ozo's new songs, stronger-than-ever brotherhood and the potent emotional impetus behind Marching On further cements the legacy begun with the band's 1998 self-titled debut. A Tzompantli, in bygone days, was a rack used to display human skulls, often of enemies or sacrifices, in several Mesoamerican civilizations. In 2022, Tzompantli is a beyond-crushing death doom war march built on a bedrock of Native / Indigenous themes, rituals and history, illuminating the splendor, brutality and despair within. Nearly three years after the band's self-released EP, Tzompantli's debut full length presents the first smoke-conjured specter to manifest materially. Tlazcaltiliztli, a ritual ceremony that translates to Inchnourishing the fire and sun with bloodInch, is imbued with the spirit of Native inspiration that dwells deep within the heart and soul of the project and is skillfully weaved into a traditional bludgeoning framework of spine-severing savagery and melancholic anguish. On the ritualistic InchEltequiInch (to cut the chest open and extract the heart as an offering) the band's unification of native / folk instrumentation and heaviness becomes one in the same, opening vast new horizons for where this sound can go.Tlazcaltiliztli is dedicated, and an offering, to the indigenous peoples, nations and tribes of the North, South, East and West of the American continents. It marks a fearsome and spirited new vision for the death metal underground. Album Tracks 1. Yaohuehuetl 2. Tlatzintilli 3. Tlazcaltiliztli 4. Eltequi 5. Ohtlatocopailcahualuztli 6. Tlamanalli 7. Yaotiacahuanetzli

Blabbermouth's description of Odious Mortem's 2007 sophomore album Cryptic Implosion as Inchan awe-inspiring slab of accomplished death metal aggression,Inch is even more applicable to Synesthesia. Avoiding the clinical sterility of many modern death metal productions, the band created a sound on Synesthesia that is raw, robust, and infused with an authentic old school spirit. In stores 1/17 via Willowtip Records. Album Tracks 1. Dormant Retribution 2. Condemnation Foretold 3. Ruins of the Timeworn 4. Replenish the Earth 5. In Abominable Form 6. Eagle's Tower 7. Cave Dweller 8. Spirit Hole 9. Synchronicity 10. Dissonant Theology

On Otun, the breadth of Montoya's influences and tastes is at it's most striking; the dulcet techno hum of InchLa PastoraInch is perforated by sprightly flutes and percussion, while lead single InchSolo QuieroInch deploys a languid reggaeton pattern beneath Bogota rising star Pedrina's distorted, wilting croon anticipating a euphoric synthesiser-lead climax. The title track, featuring a sultry guest vocal from Nidia Gongora, is a fierce and vigorous club anthem, amplified by hissing synth pads and sordid breakbeats. Even a more straightforwardly techno track like InchTatacoaInch is stylised with intoxicating Indian vocal samples, and more traditional folk selections like InchOrunInch still use an inobtrusive bassline drone. Montoya's palette is simultaneously expansive and curious, yet coherent, with a steadily melodic electronic through-line running through Otun's duration.Montoya absolutely sustains ZZK's pedigree of platforming the most exciting and inventive electronic artists from Latin America, joining the storied legacy already built by the likes of Nicola Cruz, Chancha Via Circuito, and King Coya. Album Tracks 1. Perla 2. Solo Quiero Feat. Pedrina 3. Hey Avi!! 4. Eden 5. Otun Feat. Nidia Gondora 6. Orun 7. La Pastora 8. Tatacoa 9. Eshu 10. Pasillo 11. Piedras Marcadas Otun
