Near Perfection

After doing a fair amount of research (both by camera enthusiasts at BestBuy and from youtube bloggers) I decided it was time to trade in my Nikon 1 J5 towards the G7. I am quite happy with the transition. The camera has a little bit of a learning curve (many functions and customization). Once you nail down what buttons are what, setting up the shot through the electronic viewfinder is a dream. The touchscreen is super fast and responsive. My primary use is videography and night time photography where my previous camera struggled. The G7 does super well in various conditions and I really enjoy its size - just small enough for basic portability, and big enough to do force you to frame your shots. I did get a mic attachment and several magnifier attachments to do macro nature photography. While the body is mostly plastic, the form factor is lightweight yet durable that it strikes a good balance in quality confidence. I've attached a couple of test shots I took.

Remarkable quality and features for its size

My other camera is a Canon 6d with a 24-105mm L lens, so I have a goos basis for comparison. The image quality is truly outstanding, given the size of the sensor. The things you can do with this camera are amazing. Video is, of course, excellent. It is kind of a perfect grab-n-go alternative to my Canon. Also, it is very easy to use alternative lenses. Very satisfied. By the way, I returned a Sony A6000 because I could never warm up to it. I think that the Sony cameras are very overpriced given the quality and features they offer. Trendy, for sure, but way overrated and over priced.

A really nice camera for the price. Granted, I got it on sale but it's done the job and done it well! I love the features, the quality, the size and weight, etc. I take both photo and video and it nails both.

I love this little gem ! Especially since it is my first mirrorless 4k cam, I was super excited to test run it. It is very lightweight, compact and convenient to travel with. It comes with a lens hood which is dope. Plenty of features and options as well. 4k pic and 4k video is amazing, great for photographers in any level. Overall such an awesome camera with great quality.

Great little camera

This is my first mirrorless camera. I’ve always been a Nikon guy but I saw good reviews on this and didn’t want to spend a lot. My only issue is the lack of available lenses. It uses the micro 4/3. I had to buy an adapter to be able to use my old lenses. It has to be on manual but works. You can also hack it so it records more that 30 minutes at a time and does not overheat. Great camera for beginners and intermediate users. I’m sure it can work as an emergency backup for professionals as well.i used it in a wedding and people love it when I can send their pictures right away since this connects to my phone! Great feature to have.

MY BEST PURCHASE OF 2020

As a professional photographer I wanted to get something that was light,compact, and easy to pull out! I’ve decided to buy this camera as my 3rd one to carry around when I’m with friends when I don’t wanna bring my A7iii or EOS R. The LUMIX G7 shoots 4K and the quality of the images paired with a sigma lens are absolutely stunning for such a small camera. I would definitely say buy this if you’re getting into photography and videography! The lenses for the G7 are super cheap! And I already have 4 really nice ones! I would 100% recommend buying this with a sigma lens paired. Every penny is worth it!!!

Easy to learn/use, versatile, light weight Lumix model. Bought open box. Camera was fine, but not a value after having to buy a better lens than what it comes with. Canon Rebel kit a better value and camera.

This my first camera I’ve ever bought! Honestly I do love it, you can transfer your photos from this app to your phone, tho I would say it was a bit confusing and complicated, but I managed to get through it. Bought this for film class, and there is a lot of things you need to know, but it’s honestly easy. Take time and patience. I would recommend! Even if it’s a little older, still works like if it just came out!

Beauty, but in 2025.. just get a G100D

Beautiful little camera, with a very comfortable grip. Just prefer the G100D as a lighter everyday carry, this camera is outstanding but outdated compared to other M43s you can get for the same money. Will probably pick one up again some time in the future from MPB for like ..... 1/3 of the BBY price :)

Let me start off by saying that I am obsessed with camera. I have purchased a few different compatible lenses and have switched them out and they all work so well with this camera. It’s super versatile and compact and the quality is amazing for the price. I recommend 10/10.

Easy to use and navigate. I usually shoot with a Nikon D5 dslr this was my first mirrorless and it’s a great little camera and shot some quality portraits but so much lighter and more compact easy to use on the move.

Great 4k video!

One of my first good camera bodies and so glad I got it. Photos are from raw exports with no post-editing, 2 of the first photos I took with this camera, I have moved up to some canon products as I had a friend that provided me with lenses. I mainly keep this camera for the speed and the 4k video is on par to any camera out there. If this is your break into cameras, it is a good choice. The review says I got this in 2020, but I've had it since 2018-2019

A jewel of a camera. Love the pics, very good images, love the easy wi-fi, very nice. Also bougt seperately the 45-150 mm zoom under $200, perfect match for the camera. Very happy would buy again. Still learning the video, but a friend has one and says it is very good. A bargain at the sale price.

Where have you been all my life?

I have been through, what seems like, 5,987 cameras. I prefer to shoot manual and my main objection to some cameras are the overly complicated menus and sometimes the submenus just to get to a preferred setting. Then you have the stand on one leg with your right arm lifted and pointing towards Jupiter during the second moon to get a shot. Enough! This camera has many dials that you can jump in and set without fuss and get your shot while looking through the wonderful live view. Breeze through the menus and get what you need quickly and that Q button for more rapid results. The kit lens is OK but get some real glass and the sharpness and quality. BTW The last shot is looking in a pond's reflection of the sky. The second shot is a night shot. I am not a pro but enjoy taking pics and this has become my favorite kit. Enjoy!

Best Budget camera out there!!!

This camera is the best beginners camera in the market. I personally love this camera!! This camera is easy to use and films 4k up to 30 frames per sec. I highly recommend this camera, you get a lot of this camera for the price of $550
