Vinyl LP pressing. From the opening minutes of Buoys, Noah Lennox's sixth solo album as Panda Bear resembles something both wholly new and intimately familiar to fans and followers of the musician and Animal Collective member's body of work. Lennox's bright, sincere voice is still front-and-center, along with his beatific approach to melodic structure and vocal phrasing - but there's miles of space surrounding it, a guitar and a few textured samples here and there fleshing out Buoys' dubby sparseness. The off-white loveliness of his 2011 LP Tomboy is recalled, as well as the sampledelia of 2007's landmark Person Pitch - but Buoys otherwise represents a surprising and intimately pleasurable new direction for an artist who's embraced not repeating oneself as it's own creative ethos.

On Sinister Grift, Panda Bear's first solo album in five years, he has returned with another statement that feels equally cumulative and unprecedented in his catalog. While his solo records have ranged from starkly intimate expressions of grief to colorful, electronic opuses, his music has never before sounded so warm and immediate. Working in his Lisbon, Portugal home studio with Animal Collective bandmate Josh InchDeakinInch Dibb, Lennox transforms Panda Bear into something resembling an old-school rock ensemble, playing nearly all the instruments himself and inviting kindred spirits into the process such as Cindy Lee, Spirit of the Beehive's Rivka Ravede, and-for the first time on a Panda Bear solo album-each of his Animal Collective bandmates.

Vinyl LP pressing. Includes . Recorded at his studio in Lisbon, Tomboy sees Animal Collective member Panda Bear aka Noah Lennox stepping away from the sample-based parameters of his previous record, Person Pitch, and incorporating more guitar and synthesizer. The record, massive in it's span of emotion, genre, and sound, is the welcome return of one of the most prolific and consistent audio pioneers in recent memory.
