Jay Som - Belong - White - VINYL LP

Jay Som is your favorite band's favorite band - or songwriter, producer, engineer, multi-instrumentalist... The list goes on and on when referring to Jay Som's mastermind Melina Duterte. After breaking into the spotlight with the critically acclaimed Everybody Works (2017) and it's follow-up, Anak Ko (2019), Duterte became one of the most in-demand musicians in the industry - whether it's collaborating with artists such as Troye Sivan, recording original tracks for films like A24's I Saw The TV Glow, or working on grammy-award-winning albums like boygenius' the record, as well as performing in the boygenius touring band with shows across the globe + a performance on SNL. Duterte has been a part of some of the biggest indie albums of the decade, you just might not have noticed. That's all about to change however, with the of the brilliant new Jay Som album, Belong. The album is undeniably Duterte's best work yet and features 11 tracks that showcase her ever-expansive musicianship and wide-ranging influences. Recorded at Headroom Studios in Philadelphia and mixed by Duterte and Kyle Pulley (Dr. Dog, Alex G), Belong is chock-full of everything you'd expect from such an influential and pioneering fixture in music. Tracks like InchFloatInch (featuring Jimmy Eat World's Jim Adkins) showcase Duterte's knack for melody while other standouts like InchPast LivesInch (featuring Paramore's Hayley Williams) tastefully build towards an anthemic resolve, with both Duterte and Williams' interchanging vocals on full display. Belong is a turning point for Jay Som - a career-defining statement that finds Duterte rightfully stepping into the spotlight.

Pandolfis Consort - Melody Stays Li - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The American composer Stanley Grill was strongly influenced in his writing by his passion for music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. He has already had a long-standing collaboration with Pandolfis Consort, since a number of his works were dedicated to the ensemble which was founded by the violist Elzbieta Sajka-Bachler. The album InchAnd the Song stands brightInch of Pandolfis Consort presents some works by the composer, who was born in New York in 1954. In a changing line-up with the soprano Lisa Rombach and the countertenor Nicholas Spanos, songs and song cycles based on poems mainly by R.M. Rilke, but also Heinrich Heine, Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger and Rose Ausländer are interpreted. In addition to these vocal works, there are also three Songs without Words for two violas, violoncello and theorbo on this recording.

Pandolfis Consort - Lamentare - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Christoph Graupner (1683-1760) was, during his lifetime, just as renowned and beloved as his contemporary Johann Sebastian Bach. However, unlike the InchBach RevivalInch that began in 1829, Graupner's rediscovery only started in the early 20th century. To this day, a significant portion of his over 2,000 works remains unpublished. Pandolfis Consort, founded by violist Elzbieta Sajka-Bachler and performing on period instruments, presents three of Christoph Graupner's more than 1,400 church cantatas, featuring Austrian soprano Lisa Rombach. The texts are based on the works of Georg Christian Lehms (1684-1717), and the mood of these cantatas-titled InchAngst und JammerInch (InchFear and MiseryInch), InchFurcht und ZagenInch (InchDread and TremblingInch), and InchVerleih, dass ich aus HerzensgrundInch (InchGrant That I May from the Depths of My HeartInch)-inspires this album's title InchLamentareInch. As interludes, two of Graupner's instrumental chamber works are featured excerpts from InchEntrata per la musica di tavolaInch in G minor (GWV 468) and the Sonata in G minor (GWV 724).
