From the same recording sessions as Bézier's first EP on Körperspannung records Negative Velocity, Contraption channels a few moods and scenarios.On the A-side InchContraptionInch is an insignificant droplet darting through the sky. Soon it joins a disarray of objects positioned above the atmosphere, maneuvers in formation to reveal randomized, decentralized nodes packed for mayhem.On the B-side Bézier shows a slice of his lived experience. Back in 2004 he used to go to house parties around East LA with friends they grew up with every weekend to listen to music. Winding through the Southern Californian roadway sprawl they'd drive 1/2 an hour to 1 hour on the I-10 (sometimes diverting to Route 60 if gridlock is expected) to get to the location, usually in a residential neighborhood. Being respectful of the communities and the struggle of the progenitors of this music, Bézier presents InchBlue HaloInch as an homage to that sound with a twist Cumbia-Synth to provide a little sauce for your ears. Dave Easlick joins the milieu to provide a percussive framework for this tune.Lastly, InchBit by an Electric WireInch showcases Easlick's drumming with an overlay from Bézier. As Dave rips and shreds through his drum kit the OCD machine living inside Yang's brain switches on and organizes, collates and files that dataset into a hardcore rhythm track.

The universe of Charles-Eric Charrier and Laurent Komlanvi Bel is composed of textures and structures which transform listening into a form of contemplation. Contemplation of the soundscapes themselves, and contemplation of the moment. Charles-Eric Charrier is far from being a simple instrumentalist the highly varied, digressive, uncertain and daring itinerary of his evolution defies description... Even though bass is the instrument he prefers, his playing, undemonstrative and to the point, is simply the reflection of research into improvisation and precise writing. Ever since his musical beginnings, he has always been exploring new horizons, enlarging his perspective, going behind the decor and questioning his own music-making in order to draw up the map of his own inner world. Music has always accompanied Laurent Konlanvi Bel throughout his life; for him it is a medium, a poetic language, perceptible yet also untranslatable. The meeting of these two artists charts, in complex simplicity, the map of an incredible sound world, playing with chiaroscuro effects and assertive shadows, like so many shifting approaches to listening.

D/P/I (Alex Gray) is a musician, DJ and visual artist from USA; he has made music under the alias of Deep Magic and as a part of various Sun Araw Trios, Duos and Quartets. Now, most of the time, he plays drums, guitar, or saxophone at home for his other half & two cats. Here he presents Composer. Mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D+M.InchComposer is an album of rhythms that, once started, eventually completed themselves without much input from the composer. The character of a rhythm can develop very simply/unconsciously with just a slightly different part of the hand hitting a drum, or the wrist getting tired, causing trembling and stuttering that further magnifies the rhythmic stability of the pattern and/or player. With electronics, it's different physically, as you are not 'hitting' anything, but the link to the subconscious/unconscious, remains analogous. Every adjustment to a single sound/pattern can reveal complexities that were not apparent when the sound/pattern started. A natural flow begins, similar to the development of complex accents via 'human error' of using an ordinary djembe or conga as the composer begins to be entranced by the sound/pattern, with a midi-mapped set of physical knobs, controlling complex processes/effects - each effect/process assumes it's own character for that, almost quantum-like, layer of improvisation - layer by layer, until the simple layers of sound/patterns have naturally developed into compositions that reflect the seeming-instability, excitement, and sadness in time, here referred to as a fixed, unmoving element in the 'universe', that our human software is intrinsically dependent on to interpret these rhythms and the rest of the material world. This album was fun, exciting and unpredictable until the day it was 'finished'. I hope this album encourages people to think for themselves. This isn't a 'techno', 'experimental'
