About this product

Olga Pashchenko is one of today's most versatile keyboard players. Equally at home on the fortepiano, the harpsichord, the organ and the modern piano, she radiates extraordinary virtuosity and passion. Her discography has hitherto enabled her to explore the music of Beethoven, her great passion, but also that of Dussek and Mendelssohn among others. A key figure was missing until now Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. That omission has now been repaired with this recording of his Piano Concertos nos. 9 and 17, written in 1777 and 1784. This initial collaboration with the ensemble Il Gardellino, founded more than thirty years ago by the oboist Marcel Ponseele and the flautist Jan de Winne, is scheduled to continue with other Mozart concertos in the next few years.

This disc is devoted to the Dutch music for recorder during the Baroque era. The music is highly original, although we can feel a strong influence by contemporary Italian composers like Corelli. Teun Wisse plays different period instruments, each fitting the single Sonata. The strictly historical approach is accomplished by the recording venue, a Dutch 18th Century church, whose acoustic perfectly fits the music.

Because of the imprecise signing and the stylistic near the attribution of many concerts to the brothers Graun's nearly impossible. Even the contemporary Pisendel speaks in a letter to Telemann here of InchConfusionInch, as many of the instrumental works are only sifniert with InchgraysInch. Ultimately, it should be but no matter, of which, the Graun Brothers comes this magnificent music. The excellent interpretation of this music is as easy to identify it comes from Marcel Ponseel and Il Gardellino.
